From the news it seems those who openly held guns inside to protect the property didn't need to let off shots. Holding the gun itself seems deterrent enough (for now at least).  Would you just using it for warning shots into the air?  I assume one wouldn't pepper an area for risk of hitting the wrong target?

I know how I'm going to react if someone threatens me or my home.  When my 458 comes in contact with the assailants head and it explodes like a watermelon, that should be a significant deterrent. 

I can't give anyone here a specific plan on how/when they should defend themselves with deadly force.  People will have to make those decisions for themselves.  I can only encourage them to make sure they get the tools to get the job done.
