So rooting for DC. That chub-chub is a true bad ass in the cage but also a real decent and good guy.

Pretty amazing for 40!

He may well be champion tonight.  I haven't really followed his or Miocic's training protocols lately, so I wouldn't place a bet - although a good friend of mine told me that he was thinking of putting his money on Miocic.  I can't count DC out.  Both are great fighters.

I'm looking forward to see this fight tonight.  Hoping it's a good card, overall.

There’s something old school about Stipe I think is great...he just gets the job done it’s not often you’ll see him screaming abuse and trash talk before a fight no matter what level it’s at goes out there and does his thing he’s not the most charismatic champion out there that probably gives White nightmares too promote but he’s a great fighter with a all round skill set.

The smart money is probably on Cormier too pull it off (sans his elite wrestling skills) IF he takes it that way then again wouldn’t be surprised if Stipe does what he does for possibly 5 rounds.

I hope Stipe knocks him out. DC is a dirty Fighter and they give him every Advantage they can.
DC's Chance to win? Eye poke him to Death. Stipe has good Takedown Defense and is in Top-Form.

Good fight stipe did what he had too big improvements with his double under hooks pinning DC against the cage, whatever the case DC is one tough SOB, there’s no quit in him surprising he didn’t spend more of the earlier rounds going for the single leg take downs while the energy levels were there but it is what it is great fight and win for Stipe....looks like Francis will get his rematch.

Both guys looked good and it was a close fight. Stipe almost took him out but DC was saved by the bell and came back.  His cardio was also better in this fight.

Double under hooks were a smart move. Good win for Stipe.

DC should fight the rest of his career at cruiserweight.  He's too short with too short a reach for heavyweight.

Agreed.  He was still 25+lbs overweight when he was weighing in at 205.  Could easily make 185.

Yes, he is a fat body and you can't fight at the highest level like that especially at his age.

Logic tells me you are right, but for him to go 25 minutes against Stipe last night...it's pretty crazy to me.  He may still be able to be in the top 10 for the next 3-5 years, although I would hope he would retire for his own health.  He has nothing to prove anymore.

Great question, hardgainerj.  I think, unfortunately, a lot of these guys are going to end up with CTE.  The ones who go too long are probably most susceptible.  I imagine genetics and head and neck structure play a role, but I also think that over enough time, anyone can be a victim.

It's sort of like how Nasser El Sonbaty stayed over 300-lb deep into his forties.  Had he quit perma-bulking at 40, slimmed down, and followed doctors orders, he may well have lived substantially longer.  Although it's also possible that the damage to his heart, organs, and blood vessels was already done.

Top ten sure but I think he wants to be champ.

Stipe accidently discovered DC's achilles heel...Left hook to the body.  I'm wondering if years of steroids have given DC an enlarged, sensitive liver...

Or it could be his sensitive stomach caused by years of eating too much.

Is it worth risking brain damage at this point?  I think he could have retired after beating Stipe Miocic the first time...if he wants to win on top, he should put a 1-2 year plan in place.  I would hate to see him get CTE or something like that.

That's why he should drop down a weight class.  If I were him I would just retire as a fighter because he has a great gig as a commentator.
