I’m talking about letting the police enforce the law and having DAs and the DOJ back them to the hilt.
If a couple of libidiots pull dangerous weapons and have to be put down, so be it.
Yeah, the riots need a clamp put on by LE for sure, if it's in their power to do it. I agree the cops and DAs have to try to step up before the citizenry does, which is starting to happen and will lead to nothing good.
The time when that would be effective may have passed tho. I'd consider a rifleman on every corner to enforce a hard curfew under martial law in problem cities. No one seems to be willing to actually give that order tho. Not states, not Trump. I guess they're frightened of the political consequences.
Short of that, this shit will continue to snowball imo. I'm not sure the cops can handle it. Semi-effective policing will just bolster motivation and invite an evolution of tactics, and if we're being honest it's not like the rioters have brought any big guns to bear yet. Fireworks, gasoline, bats, knives, and an occasional gun, jostling around in the street. They're basically cute, compared to what people could do. I think they're trying to be cute in order to make a heavy handed response inappropriate. Enforced curfew is appropriate and less inflammatory than constant violent engagement with mobs. I don't mean shoot on sight enforcement, but firm. If you say there's a curfew you gotta mean it.
Ever since CHOP this smells more like an organized insurgency than spontaneous protests getting out of hand. I could see some actual kaboom domestic terrorism kicking off if this doesn't get handled right. Hopefully we've got an alphabet agency keeping their finger on the pulse. When this is all over, I wouldn't be surprised if China, Russia, or Iran turn out to have been involved.
