Good lifting shoes? Nike metcon? Or?
« on: September 05, 2020, 08:29:29 PM »
Friend recommends Nike Metcon 6. I checked them out and for $130 I need to be sure thats the best my money can get me. You guys have any recommendations? I really prefer something totally flat footed for stability squatting doing deads etc. I might pick the metcons up rnow just to see if theyre any good. Curious what else is out there I might be missing out on. If i get the metcons right now ill report back if theyre legit or not. My feet get hot easy and the nikes supposedly are real breathable. Downside theyre supposedly a narrow shoe and i have pretty wide feet. My little toes create holes in my shoes over time usually.

Anyway what say you denizens of the finest forum on the internet?

So the metcons were real uncomfortable and at $130 no bueno. I picked up a pair of pimp ass nike downshifters for 60$ and really i bought them on the spot because theyre legit and the salesman at dicks listened to me when i said i had wide feet and brought me size e super wides or some shit. These shoes are solid. And black i like black shoes i dont see myself wearing purple and yellow shoes or whatever the fuck.

Time to workout

Mike you bought a running shoe to squat in?

You can get older metcons for less than $130, sometimes even under $50 of you go to a nike store.

Reebok Nanos are nice too.

I bought the running shoes cuz i liked them. And all my other shoes have holes where my little toe pops out. If i find metcons for $50 ill buy them. But not for $130

The nanos are hot fire and exactly what i was looking for. If i can find these tomorrow im def going to buy https://www.dickssportinggoods.com/p/reebok-mens-nano-x-training-shoes-20rbkmnnxblkprxxxmns/20rbkmnnxblkprxxxmns?sku=20909359&camp=CSE:DSG__lia_pla-4583314227002183&msclkid=5089a8f59fda1ba3ef29f7a1e255f116&gclid=5089a8f59fda1ba3ef29f7a1e255f116&gclsrc=3p.ds

I'll probably get flamed to bits here, but hundreds of years ago (1990 I think) I saw a photo-shoot in the proper IronMan magazine-  by which I mean the imported US version, not the butchered UK abortion (thanks McInerney  ::))  In it, Lee Labrada was wearing a type of footwear I'd never seen before.  It was this sort of thing

I recalled seeing the old pics of the guys in Golds training barefeet, but f** that.  So I figured this was the closest I'd get to that feeling

They were hard to track down in the UK back then - at least where I lived (a long way from the coast).  But I finally got a pair and I can still remember my first set of front squats in them - it was a revelation (for me at least).  On the very rare occasion I feel like a standard squat, I do the little plate under the heel thing

There's probably a hundred reasons they are bad for me, but it's all I've worn ever since and.  And now you can pick them up anywhere for pennies

Unless you need a heel, Converse All Stars are as good as it gets. You have all these brands making fancy shoes trying to improve things, but sometimes simple and cheap is best.
I did see one thing I didn't get to try yet. It was to take off your socks and spray Locktite inside, once in the toe and once in the heel. Supposedly gave amazing grip for deadlifts. :D

A few years ago I bought some Reebok Crossfit shoes that some powerlifters on IG wore. They were shitty.

Nike Aqua Socks were big back then. I had a pair, and loved them, was really sad when they gave up the ghost -

.

The new versions aren't the same.

Baffles me why anyone with a brain would support Nike. Absolute worst of the corporate-socialist scum.

That's exactly what Labrada was wearing - I'd forgotten the fact they were Nike - thanks BB (as always  :))

And as for my comment about guys being barefoot in old pics, this came up in another thread today - were shoes barred by Joe Gold or something?  ;D

Ric Drasin, Arnold and Waller. I hope Drasin's videos remain on youtube. I have to start watching them again.

Hey, if it weren't for Nike, where would those Chinese 6 year olds find work?

Nano 9s are a good alternative to the metcon.

If you just buy last year's model, the $130-$150 shoes drop in price significantly.
