Halloween - Los Angeles County has gone too far - Bans It
« on: September 09, 2020, 07:52:31 PM »
So this was the talk of the town this morning as news broke that Los Angeles County, or some IDIOT there decided to ban Halloween, Trick or Treating and anything remotely good with the holiday.  Parents were outraged.  It is one thing to be careful about Covid-19, but another thing to go absolutely crazy, as LA County does.  Deciding something 2 months from now. But alas, after complete outrage, they walked back on the stupid rules.

Here was the initial proclamation from the idiots (someone should be fired over this crap)

“Door-to-door trick-or-treating is not allowed because it can be very difficult to maintain proper social distancing on porches and at front doors especially in neighborhoods that are popular with trick or treaters,” the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health said in its recently released guidelines. “‘Trunk-or-treating’ events where children go from car to car instead of door to door to receive treats are also not allowed.”

Gatherings or parties with non-household members are not permitted, even if held outdoors, and neither are carnivals, festivals, live entertainment or haunted house attractions.

So what can families do to safely celebrate the spooky holiday?

They can participate in online parties and contests, such as costume or pumpkin carving; car parades that comply with public health guidance for vehicle-based parades; Halloween movie nights at drive-in theaters; Halloween-themed meals at outdoor restaurants; Halloween-themed art installations at an outdoor museum; and decorating homes and yards with Halloween-themed decorations.

And this is a few hours ago...

Less than a day after Los Angeles County Department of Public Health essentially shut down Halloween over the risk posed by the still strong coronavirus pandemic, they’ve put on a new costume. In a press briefing that is still going on, LACPD Director Dr. Barbara Ferrer said the guidelines have now been “revised.”

Previously not allowed, door to door trick or treating and the car to car “Trunk or treating” are now only not recommended by the county. Even as COVID-19 remains a serious concern in the Southland, the sudden shift comes as many parents and business’ went apoplectic with outrage over the prospect of keeping little ones indoors on October 31.

---------------------

As many people have said, this LACPD Director Dr. Barbara Ferrer needs to go and get fired.  She has destroyed Los Angeles County with her insane Covid-19 regulations, six months now, and the county will take years to recover from her (as well as Newsom).  Her inept and illogical thinking is just making Los Angeles look more stupid by the day.  No sense at all from this person and her team.

Hey if everyone wears a mask they’re all safe right? ;) :)

But I think leaving a bucket of candy outside your door would be safe enough if everyone is social distancing. Small risk and good for the kids.

I am to the point I want everyone who thinks COVID is a hoax to go about their lives like nothing has changed. Only when they have a family member who dies from it will they take it serious but based on GetBig, it really is the only way it is going to work. too many morons think its a joke

At LEAST 99%.  If you are healthy and under 45, the odds go up to almost astronomical levels.

Just from a sheer correlation between age and mortality, basically mortality as a function of age, Covid-19 death rates take a VERY steep curve, if you just map it on an xy axis.

It's actually a more geriatric virus than the normal influenza...the risk becomes noticeably higher at 70, where about 1 in 16 people aged 70 to 79 who get it, die from it.  At 80 to 89, it becomes about 1 in 4 who get it who will die from it.

No disrespect to the elderly here, but I think we should direct resources to the age groups more at risk, and let the economy open up, and let individuals decide personally whether or not they wish to take the chance with this virus or not.

Why doesn't someone have the balls to organize some good old fashion civil disobedience. That one thing I give the Left credit fit. When they don't like something they get out there and fight. The Right just suck it  up and complain. If everybody just goes about their business practicing their rights granted by God what are they going to do? If you want to go out Trick or Treating -- do it.

Come one, Ron. You know people.

You’re correct. He IS a part of the problem.

These continued efforts to solidify this weak-ass and minor bug as a considerable thing are growing increasingly intolerable.

Caution the elderly and sick ... and let everyone else get on with regular life.

The data and statistics, and point-blank information, is available for all to see. And consider.

The world truly has been consumed by madness.

Been a Republican since college. Must of been that Family Ties character that got me into it.    But this was not a political issue.  It was an issue just being stupid and trying to shut down everything out there just because of a whim, not science behind it.  At least someone came to their senses, after probably some screaming and yelling behind the scenes.

Haha. Alex played by Michael J Fox. He was awesome. Miss those kind of shows. I was already a Reagan fan and a Conservative so Alex was a kindred spirit.

Just priceless.

It’s the second week of September and they’re already looking at Halloween? Since when do politicians plan anything that far in advance?

This is what happens when you give power/control to these leftist sociopaths.  They turn into tin-pot dictators and petty tyrants.  Expect it to get worse.

I'm sure you voted for these ppl Ron, now you have to deal with them.  Good luck.

They'll be treated harshly.
