Colby Covington believes Tyron Woodley wanted out of the UFC Fight Night main event.

Covington finished the former welterweight champion in the fifth round of the one-sided contest Saturday in Las Vegas. Woodley suffered a rib injury and verbally submitted as the two battled for position on the ground, but "Chaos" saw it as a way to escape the fight.

"I broke him," Covington said at the postfight press conference. "The (fourth) round, he quit. After I cut him open and I put vicious ground-and-pound, he was done. He told his coaches he was done. He was just looking for a way out.

Didn't Colby "Chaos" Covid-19-ton get finished in his fight with Kamaru "Kamala" Snoozeman over a similar injury in the fifth, only to the jaw?

No it was a ref stoppage in the fifth with Colby covering on his knees. He fought three with the fractured jaw and it was even going onto the 5th.

You can find the fight on YT.  Great slugfest.

Dana White will do what's best for business. He is a professional at the post-fight, press conferences.

Hello? The Don King of mixed martial arts. They all follow the playbook that works. Until it doesnt.....

so black life matter tapped lol

I'm surprised this hasn't sparked international riots yet.

I wish Colby Chaos Covid-19-ton had leaned/kneeled on his neck for the tap.

I didn't have strong feelings about him one way or another. When I saw that -- forget it. Just another entitled, ungrateful nig.

Yes, GSPs looks was a big part of it. He didn't have the most exciting personality (never shit talked) but he could play the "Good Guy" perfectly.

Having a compelling personality and schtick helps to increase your marketability and fill the seats but in the end, as in virtually all things in life, it's winning that matters and gets people to love you. Fedor and Anderson Silva were hardly charismatic figures but people wanted to see them. To see how long they can go undefeated.

At the pre fight press conference he answered every question with "black lives matter". That's why I enjoyed seeing him get pounded on the ground and leave the ring tapping from broken rib pain. 👏🏻

Hypocrites just like the rest of them. Glad Colby called them all out.

In no way is he racist.  Check out some of the ladies on his IG.😅

One is BMC/Kwon thread worthy.

I wish I saved the video where Colby is out in public and having a chat with a fan. The kid asked him what it takes and what he should do to as he wanted to become a UFC champ. Colby talked about all the sacrifices you have to make. The discipline it took. He mentions all the things he missed out on during his teen and college years, the parties and other social events. Using all his free time to train... I was kind of surprised at how humble and soft spoken he was. The kid was too and mentioned how much different he was in person and how he should show this side of him more. Colby replied that that is just how it is. The UFC is show business. Even when he was winning he was about to be cut. You have to be an entertainer if you want to be successful and make money. You don't last long in this business and you have to make the most of it.

A bit of that side came out of him when he dedicated his win to first responders and police. He talked about how police are being vilified by media etc. He really delved into it all.

For sure you are one injury or punch away from it all ending. Try to get that big pay day and save/invest your money.

Here's the vid I was taking about. "I wish I could. It's not what sells." Is the line I was trying to remember. Look at the kid's face. You can tell he was really touched and moved by Colby. It really made an impression that will stay with him for life and motivate him to pursue his dreams.

If GSP was a worthless fighter, it wouldn't matter if he had the most Compelling Personality in the world or the Handsome face of Henda, he wouldn't last long in the UFC.

An example is John Fitch, he kept winning and winning (with his what Dana White thought, very boring style and personality, ie non marketable) and Dana still wanted to boot him, which he eventually did.

If you have an exciting style that KOs people with spectacular moves/can ragdoll opponents and dominate them in brutal fashion, you don't even need to be able to talk the language and can have the compelling personality of Uncle Joon and the handsome face of Queen Vissy and still can be marketable lol
