Multi-vitamin/mineral, I just buy one of the bigger pharmacy house brands. Most source from the same people, and I trust that they aren't going to be off by too much. I also add in extra Vit C, D, Zinc, Mag, and fish oil.

Super Nutrition Opti-Pack was the brand Duchaine and a bunch of others were recommending if you really wanted to go high end. I don't think it was a paid endorsement. They were pretty expensive back in the day. NOW supplements bought the brand a year ago, and dropped the price some, but they're still getting good reviews.

The only "multi" I take is a chelated multi-mineral.  All my vitamins are separate.

I'm 54 now and ppl tell me I look 40.

Been taking vits and mins for the last 37 years.  Pretty cheap insurance.

How’s this one look? Any specific brand you recommend? What extra vitamins are you taking?

Well, I fell for the 3 bazillion desicated liver tabs a day thing decades ago.  Any vitamin that is "natural" is to be found in the food we eat.   Those that we buy in pill or even liquid form are no longer natural but probably still useful to our bodies. B12 shots are supposed to be good.  This topic is beyond my understanding but my oldest brother is somewhat of a student of this sort of stuff.  I will ask him his thoughts.

I've read many comments about Beverly where fans say their proteins are freaking magic, way above the rest :D
Do you agree? Why are they so good?

B12 shots are supposed to be good.

B vitamin shots are popular among some, they think they help everything. Perhaps it's because they are injections and people feel that makes them extra "powerful", I don't know  :D

I myself took a few B12 shots recently a friend found in his gearbox. I remember some sleep specialist recommending a strong B-complex along with D3 to improve sleep. I think a B-50 tab helped improve sleep some :D

In the US, I think B12 has a mythical status somewhat because of its association with the NFL (and with big sports in general). In the NFL it was usually given with a course of pain killers or amphetamines to keep the players in the game. Toradol and B12 was a recent popular combination that caused them a bit of grief.

If you must take a multivitamin, Costco's Kirkland Signature seems to be best in quality and value compared to other brands:

Quality post about quality product by a quality poster with a great Avatar. Thx Loco. (Los of quality here).  ;)

I just checked and I'd guess neither are banned or can be banned. I know some drug testing bodies have rules against any injections of any kind, but how would you enforce a B12 injection ban anyway?

Athletes depend a lot on NSAIDs, despite the data saying they may retard training adaptations and may even do damage to kidneys, the CV system or whatever. :D
I read about dome type of vet speed with b-vitamins that is popular with South American athletes. The athletes are so stupid they can't even read a label, thinking they are only doing b-vitamins. Yeah I want that type of b-vitamin that really speeds you up  :D

Effective for what?

Acetyl-l-carnitine has a noticeable neural effect, may quickly reduce depression, is a bit of a stimulant in feel. Many notice it makes them very aggressive, so much so that many report they can't use it. I don't think it's placebo. Can be good pre-workout due to the aggression :D

Curcumin I have found effective as an anti-inflammatory.

Alpha Lipoic Acid to reduce blood sugar.

L-carnitine for increased energy and fat loss. Will read the link you provided now as well.

I mentioned NAC earlier and seems to help with sinus and also reduce dry eye.

Omega 3 also may apparently help eye health and is good for joints and helps reduce inflammation.

Grapeseed extract I use as an anti-oxidant, also may help with inflammation.

Animal Pak

Doesn't state how much vitamin k2 it contains and uses magnesium oxide which isn't a great source of magnesium, but this is better than most multis.

Skimmed through most of the suggestions. Most of those multis are using poor quality ingredients and are poorly dosed.

This was the best Super Nutrition Opti-Pack (would still add more d3 personally)

Animal pak would be the next best, but contains a lot of "fluff". Not sure I'd wanna use it.

This was good, Life Extension Mix but lacked k2 (higher dose of d3 would be better)  but also a lot of fluff.

It has some pretty interesting data on it wrt neurology, how it can help with mental problems. It can help anxiety, skin picking, nail biting, OCD, irritability in autism, addiction to nicotine, weed, cocaine  :D

As far as blood sugar and insulin sensitivity goes, berberine is supposed to be as good as metformin basically. I have access to metformin so I haven't tried the berberine  :D
