I was routing for Costa but if I had to put money down it would be with Adesanya. Look at how he moves. How effortlessly he snaps those head kicks, and like Jon Jones, and one of the reasons I think Jones is so dominating, is his height and reach. Israel had an 8 inch reach advantage. You could see the difference when he would snap those jabs at Costa's face. Costa was no where near him when Izzy's fist would hit his face.
What I don't understand was that if Costa is really a BJJ Black Belt why didn't he try to take it to the ground? Didn't shoot once and gave up quickly when they clinched. Isn't it smarter to try to beat someone by capitalizing on their weak points. I don't think anyone is near Izzy's level in the stand up, including Jon Jones. But Jones is so much more well rounded.
I don't see anyone in his weight class beating him. And I so want that cocky, arrogant, conceited smart ass to get his ass whipped. I wish Costa would get another shot but this time change his strategy. If Adesanya is going to be beat it's going to be on the ground. With those long skinny legs I'm sure Costa, if he really has the ground and wrestling experience, could take him down at some point. If you notice, often Adesanya will take a wide stance and face you from the side. This puts his lead leg way out there, that's just screaming for a single leg/ankle pick. Maybe even catch one of those high roundhouse kicks but that's a lot harder as he snaps those like no other.
