but you are still going to vote trump right?

that's my point when i said it didn't hurt him, debates are for entertainment in 2020 they don't change votes

the popular opinion in 2012 was romney beat obama in the first debate, that didn't change too many minds

A good point.

The debate doesn't change the eventual outcome.

I'd rather Trump mellows out a bit and potentially wins over some undecided and reluctant Biden voters during these debates.

He can get back to giving us entertainment when he has secured another 4 more years.

A huge majority care about personalities even if you don't. You are just one vote. Ask any anti-Trumper why they don't like Trump. They won't mention a single policy just his personality.
In a perfect world only policies and actual accomplishments should matter, but most people don't really follow politics closely and follows those things. They just go by overall impressions which is control by the MSM. Wait until tomorrow. It's all going to be about how Trump kept interrupting Biden and talking over the moderator and turning the whole thing into a circus. This will reinforce the impression left on those who watched it and it will be considered typical Trump by those who didn't.

Trump supporters will still be Trump supporters but I don't think he got a single new fan for those on the fence.

 ;D.                  ;D

Post of the day..
Well said..
He needs new votes..
Not the typical Trump / Maga fan base...

Biden couldn’t answer if he would pack the courts. Said he would expand Obamacare, said on his first day he would repeal Trump tax cuts. Good God people, pay attention to the policies. Biden got hammered on a ton more. Who gives fuck about personalities. This was a policy beat down not to mention he couldn’t string a sentence together

I disagree.

Trump let Biden make absurd claim after absurd claim and barely called him on any of it.
Biden claimed his version of the NGD would create millions of good paying jobs. How? What type of jobs? Who is going to be trained to work these jobs?

Biden claimed the trade deals Trump negotiated were terrible, Trump didn’t refute it.

War in the Middle East?  Nothing.
Peace in the Middle East? Nothing.
Defund the police, support of Antifa, support of BLM? Nothing.

Jesus Christ....Biden claimed two times that if Trump wasn’t out golfing and was more available, there would be less COVID deaths. So the guy who has been hiding in his basement for 6 months just called the President a “no show”.

Trump needed prep and it showed. Everything Biden claimed could have easily been rebutted if Trump took the time to have responses ready. When Biden said he never said defund the police, call him out with the exact date and location of when he did it. FFS the guy called US troops dumb bastards and Trump was more focused on Hunter getting kicked out of the military for drugs.

Biden claimed at least 8–10 times that things Trump brought up we debunked, and Trump only called him on it once. He should have beat Biden over the head with the public safety and law enforcement support 3-4 times, but only did it once.

Like I said earlier, it was a poor performance by both.

It's a good thing Biden was too frightened to go off script. An actual opponent would have spanked Trump for his atrocious behavior in front of a national audience.

He's going to have that chambered next time around. Trump best watch it.  "You will respect this debate and the voters of this country. You will shut your mouth, sir, and you will remain silent while I am speaking." That'd be the election right there. It's all anyone would talk about.

How do you have a debate with time restraints?? This 2 minutes to answer questions is bullshit. How the fuck do you answer a question in 2 minutes,  then you are not able to rebuttal? This is the most important election in recent history and you have time restraints? Should have 3 hour blocks for each debate let them actually debate.

Trump talked shit about him and every other news organization.  Fox News isn't giving him a break and it will be even worse when CNN and MSNBC host the next debates.

It's going to be way harder because if you thought Wallace was tough just wait until CNN and MSNBC gets ahold of him.

Yes, then it will actually be Biden and the moderators against Trump.  Trump used that card tonight against a fair (IMO) moderator.  He can fairly use that card again, but it might come across as trite, perhaps desperate.

Agreed. Of course nobody really wants a substantive debate, do they? They want focus-group tested soundbites and vague platitudes instead of in-depth discussion of policy specifics.

Anyways, my conclusion:

Trump: same old, nothing new and nothing substantive. Hard for him to play anything other than the arrogant douchebag. He hurt himself more than Biden did or could have with whatever small percentage of the electorate hasn’t made up its mind. Typically Presidential in that most Presidents bomb their first 2nd term debate. Miscalculated by attacking Biden’s competence and fitness so much, lowering the bar so much that to have Biden show up would exceed expectations.

Biden: same old, nothing new and nothing substantive. He’s probably a decent person in real life, but he chuckles at inappropriate times, gets angry at inappropriate times and just seems a little off. His “shut up” and “shush” comments probably didn’t hurt him too much but feel like the elderly guy from the bar, who talks a big game but needs help climbing on a stool. Benefited from the low bar set for him by Trump as well as his opponent’s complete inability to control his emotional and suppress his infantile behavior.

United States: America is fucked. It’s probably best to go get some lube and start slathering it on, because regardless of who wins, she’s getting pounded.

A good point.

The debate doesn't change the eventual outcome.

I don't think this is an ordinary election. The debates don't change the minds of who they support but it's the undecided that makes the difference in such a close race. There are still enough  undecided out there and they are torn between the "blah" feeling they have with Biden and the personal dislike they have for Trump. They don't like either of the choices and in the end they will go for they feel is the safer choice. A hot head does not come across as a safe choice.

Agreed.

I’ve said it before, it’s sad that our choices are between Trump and Biden. Maybe Kanye West deserves a chance. :-X

If that is true then it means Americans don't understand that in a debate you have to answer the questions. Also a party cannot refuse to answer.

It was a shit debate no doubt but Biden came off overwhelmed, unprepared, scripted.

Where did you get these statistics. CSPAN is still conducting their poll
https://twitter.com/cspan/status/1311134050644615168

The Telemundo poll is correct.

As far as CNN, what kind of link is that? Why not go directly to the CNN website where their poll showed 60% said Biden won.

I don’t know that we can really opine on Biden, short of saying that he didn’t come across as a complete imbecile which, based on Trump’s incessant attacks on his competence, was a win.

We wanted a debate and instead we got a farting contest. Does it really matter whose farts were wetter?

Biden had every chance to unzip his fly but thinks on his feet worse than a Student Council candidate.

He'll have something like that ready for next time tho, after he practices it in the bathroom mirror a few hundred times.
