Genocide has always been a side dish of history - be it soft like now in the West or hard in war times.
Think of the squirrel population in America and other "victims" that get no benefits from having been steadily murdered by invaders. The local health food place in my town has a Police Officer outside making sure everyone who enters has a mask on, no mask no entry.

I actually went there yesterday after work, they have hand sanitizer stations everywhere, like dozens of them and this isn't a large building.  Directional arrows and "standing" locations all over the floors.  They have people who walk around and enforce it too.  On the loud speakers they have instructions on how to handle items and how to position yourself away from others while shopping.  It's on a 2-3 minute loop, no music or anything, just non stop instructions on how to protect yourself.

This was the first time in my life i felt like i was in some shithole communist country.  I'm not going to shop there anymore.

Then you go across the street to the wings place and there's 40 people packed inside with no masks drinking beer and watching sports.
