people obsess over an election that will have virtually zero impact on their personal lives?

I was listening to one of Jocko’s podcasts and he was analogizing how the US is like a large boat traveling through the ocean at 12 knots and what the president does is comparable to someone trying to use an oar to steer the ship in a different direction. And he’s right. The US is a huge, bureaucratic empire. Regardless of who the next president is the federal government will grow larger, the Pentagon will get whatever it wants, and the bureaucracy will run foreign policy however it pleases with zero impact on most Americans’ lives. You should listen to Jocko. He’s smart, works very hard and is getting rich marketing bullshit to his fanboys of which I am one of the less fanatical. He also avoids taking an overtly political stance because he knows everyone’s money is green. Unless your livelihood is directly tied to the election of one or the other candidate you really have no dog in this fight.

In conclusion, I suggest you all focus more on training, diet and gear, and less on political machinations that don’t affect you.

If it directly affects my pocket, it directly involves me.

One candidate will cut down on legal tax loopholes that help many of us with small businesses and real estate investments. That would hurt our livelihoods, wealth and retirement plans.

The other wants to keep our economy booming with greater GDP, lower taxes, healthy stock market, low unemployment and stronger dollar.

Despite the rhetoric, Jocko’s premise is correct. Any changes made by either candidate will be at the margins. Policy is set by the bureaucrats and the business interests that have a vested interest in making things run smoothly.

Do you think the Goldman Sachs and other big bank alums who Biden appoints to run the Treasury Department will be any different from the ones Trump has appointed? They’re all members of the same club.

Do you think smart, ambitious business owners won’t find any around whatever tax laws are in place?

Do you think the ambitious generals and defense contractors who run the Pentagon will let it crumble?

Do you think Congress won’t support Israel regardless of who is president?

Do you thing Big Pharma won’t be controlling health care policy one way or another?

The US will roll on, even when Kamala is president in a year or two.

This is why I was a little confused with OP’s post. I’ll go back and listen to those podcasts but yes, who ever gets in will possibly affect all of those that you listed. Not to corporate tax, business regs, etc. not to mention relationships (or not) with other leaders from other countries. This is a HUGE election

While this is true, I’m also a business owner and 2A supporter. Right now corporate tax is at 21% compared to 35-38% under Obama, if Biden gets in he said he would repeal the Trump tax cuts which would hurt not just my employees but all involved. Even though he didn’t says it, he implied that he would pack the courts. This would be devastating. This isn’t even the tip of the iceberg.

I absolutely promise you, those who vote for Biden and if he should win, these voters have absolutely NO CLUE of they just did. No clue at all. What do Trump supporters think about Ann Coulter? She's been very critical of Trump in recent times, saying how he hasn't acted where he could have, eg with building the wall and many orher things. I mean it is true that the US, and world politics in general, is a huge bureaucracy, a huge grinding machine that any one man can't be expected to steer exactly where he wants it to go. How many people around Trump can he trust? Seems to me like 99% of his admin are actively working against him. Almost everyone in politics hates him, even his own supposed "supporters".
Trump is subject to pressure, even as he resists impressively. Like with forcing him to denounce "white supremacy" and the Proud Boys. First he instinctively knew these questions were framed in bad faith, but later he was like, "all right, I condemn the PB". Ann has written about this too. His own people refuse to move in on Antifa. Refuse to indict corrupt politicians, refuse to release info on the fake Russiagate etc.

I think Olympia has it right in focusing on yourself and not getting all bent out of shape over political machinations. People are going insane. The election is going to be a huge circus, I will sit back and laugh at it all, what else can you do?

Unless you are still a kid compare your life and society today to what it was 30 years ago. People can go to jail for disciplining their dog. There use to be just male and female. If I said a swear word in class you would get suspended. Now you got preteen girls cursing like a sailor.

I was watching a documentary on baseball the other day and notice that when the reporter stood in front of the stadium giving a report the audience were all dressed in suits for the men and dresses for the woman. And they stood there in respectful silence.

Our leaders set the tone for the kind of society we live in. The policies passed, the judges appointed, laws created and enforce... Clinton was a huge disservice to decency and appropriateness.

Perhaps "Jocko" forgot, or never knew, what life was like under Jimmy Carter and what it was like under Ronald Reagan.

This election is more important than ever and effects not just the US but the whole world.

We've had a huge influx of muslims here in Sweden and the Trump-hate is at an all time high (many hate Trump just because others do and that it's the in-thing to do here in Sweden now), just because he is a real leader. VERY different from Swedens so called "leader" (which is not really a leader at all), that tries to gain more and more votes by promoting multi-culti and even more immigration, not caring at all about the ever so increasing crime and the severity and brutality of them (constant gangrapes, burnings, honorkillings etc)

If you want to have a relationship lasting 10+ years here in Swe, here's a tip for you, don't ever talk about american politics at the dinnertable or when watching the news in the TV-couch with your family.

Regardless of Politics or whatnot, (Trump could even have cured cancer), but the thing females here are stuck on and can't see past, is Trumps "Grab her by the pussy"-comment.
