I always wonder how they knew they had conquered a country, they can only see a few miles either way, how do they know they have not missed an army 30 miles away???

Its the same stupid shit on game of thrones when they leave one place in tiny fucking boat where its snowing and rock up on a Caribbean beach in a couple of fucking days.

I don't think they really knew.  The armies were like living things, constantly on the search for food to sustain them.

The food was anyone they found in their way.

No doubt they traveled on established trade routes where larger cities were located.
