I've seen her work but never in person (I don't get out much, lately
). I've also see the "work" of Picasso...Yuck. I'm more of an Andrew Wyeth type. To be honest, I'm even more of an admirer of the period of time known as "the Renaissance". Probably because I have zero talent myself.
Andrew Wyeth's paintings and Renaissance art is great art. So is a lot of other art from various periods and artists. What one prefers is a matter of taste. Also, many collectors collect art based on it's monetary value or potential monetary value....which is sometimes a gamble. Some people consider art as decoration and don't care whether it is an investment or not. I'm one of those people. I mostly choose artwork that goes with my décor or that I find interesting.
A large oil on canvas painting of a landscape that has a heavy old fashioned frame painted in the 1700's hangs in my living room. It's rather dark for my taste but my grandfather bought it in Glasgow the 1920's and I eventually inherited it several years ago. It's value to me is personal, which is why it gets a "place of honor" in my house. It definitely does not go with the style my house is decorated in. By the way, I also like Andrew Wyeth's work. It has a simplicity about it that is very calming. Unfortunately, I cannot afford that caliber of art, unless it is a print.
