He was competing in the early to mid '70's in the IFBB Mr. Universe and he retired after the 1985 Mr. Olympia. He saw the judges were going for the more massive look like Gaspari so he decided to call it quits.

Thanks, I didn't realize his career was that long. Seemed to retire at or near his peak.

I attended a seminar of Greg's in late 80's... he spent 50% of the seminar shitting all over Arnold (how weak he was and couldn't do a real chin up) and lots of others.

He was incredible when he won the IFBB Mr Universe back in the 1970's to go pro.
Makaway was so ripped his skin looked like shrink wrapped plastic over muscle
He beat Danny Padilla in that show by being in awesome condition.

His pro career was ok, but he never seemed to get that totally ripped condition he had on that Mr U stage.
