Barbell hip thrusters

My gym is plagued with both guys and girls doing this dumb exercise. They look like they're having sex with the bar.

Dumbest exercise ever. Can't imagine devoting time to this exercise.

Some total imbecile in my gym loaded the bar with 495 and was trying to do this... I busted out laughing.  He was a crossfidiot and had hardly no muscle at all.  He must have massive bruises all over his legs and hips.

Must be an amateur thruster. Needs to use a pad.

Some big, doofy European dude at my gym does them with the bar loaded up. Never bothered to try to calculate the weight.

It just gets bastardized by people because they can use a lot of weight right from the get go, and they fuck it up.

It's popular because nowadays it's all about ASS.
It does work the glutes but may be inferior to other exercises like different squat variations and this move may be less taxing.

My gym has no less than 3 different setups/machines for this exercise.

Thank Bret the CONMAN Contreras for this stupid fad!! Fucking girl thinks he is the "glute specialist" because he take sit up the ass weekly!! Deep squats and Sumo deadlifts (heavy) will build 100X more muscle in your glutes this his phaggoty little thrust!!!

They target the ass too.

But, they can also be utilized to learn how to engage the muscle.  There are instances where people compensate in hip hinge movements, squats etc with other muscles than the ass.

Seems like a ridiculous movement. Many other ways to work your glutes without having to having a steel bar digging into your pelvis.

These personal trainers have to come up with these stupid exercises to beat the competition because they are more "educated" with all of these strange exercises.  Who created that stupid stability ball these idiots use?  I'm surprised no one has been killed on one of them yet.
