It's funny how the rich and famous just can't accept the fact that they age and die one day. Guys like Peter Thiel are pumping billions of dollars in pseudo-scientific projects on immortality and life-prolonging. But they all meet their maker sooner or later, no matter how much money in the bank, and they can't change it what pisses them off :D

nothing?

Haha - being in the UK I saw this last night and thought about posting for a second or two... then thought about the response it would get so didn't bother  ;D

One thing though - I thought aortic replacement was an open-heart procedure - so he's up and about quickly, isn't he?  (can't be bothered to Google)

I think this interview happened right after Franco died. That's a really candid clip on how people of his status think and even look at others, especially referencing himself and Howard as "people like us". You don't hear things like that from people like him often.

Arnold has made a number of bad decisions which cost him multiple procedures.  If he had simply replaced his aortic valve with a mechanical valve he would have likely had that for life.  Instead he went to USC and had a Ross procedure with Vaughn Starnes. Starnes  was known for this novel approach which places the pulmonic valve in the aortic position. Then a human cryo preserved valve (homograph) is placed in the pulmonic position.

First the homograph failed and they attempted to replace it using a new transcatheter approach. This failed so they cracked his chest and replaced it directly with a tissue valve. Why they didn't replace the pulmonic at the same time is beyond comprehension.

Next the pulmonic failed so they had to replace that.

He used to say he went to Mexico for his first procedure so he would not upset Maria.

Prime u are the oldest here. Any goals or things u study?

Actually, I am not the oldest person on Getbig, Vince B. is older than I am. Right now and up until the election results, I'm spending a great deal of time on politics. Aside from working out to stay fit, I putter around in the garden, weeding, pruning, planting and just admiring it. I read a lot, mostly about current events and people. I'll leave the study of quantum physics to you.  :)

What’s interesting is no matter how much fame and fortune these people have they’ll die just like the rest of us.
