Dressing for the occasion is so important. I always wear at least a collared t shirt and jeans/slacks and shoes at the bare minimum even going to the supermarket.
It makes a huge difference. People respect someone in shape in smart clothes rather than tank tops and trackies.

True story.  There was a County Precinct Judge in my hometown that once the court room was filled with people that had shown up for minor traffic tickets and such, he would ask the entire room to stand and let the people who dressed "poorly" get in line and dismiss their tickets first, no questions asked.

I remember he once said that if you look like you can afford a traffic ticket, you're paying for it.

Seen him do it personally once.

Yeah this was in a small town in Texas.  Not the standard by any means.  My parents always told me to wear a tie if i'm going to court.  They take it more seriously in the big city.

You get treated differently when you dress nice and act polite, it's just the nature of how we judge people.

Last company i worked for we all had to wear a jacket and tie Monday through Thursday.  Image was really important to the owner.  He's the only person i ever worked for that would comment on how you were dressed.
