I guarantee that gyms are not the cause of the increased infection rate.

That is not something you can guarantee.

I sort of agree.  Most folks who have gone back to the gym and have gotten sick or positive results are most likely keeping their mouths shut so as not to endure another gym shut down.

Do you think there are enough people going to gyms to make a significant difference in whether there's a rise in cases or not? I avoided going to any gym that did not require masks at all times.

Honestly, probably not enough to make a difference.  I still haven't gone back.  I have everything I need in my basement now and my work opened our gym back up in September.  I have yet to be in there when anyone else is and don't have to train in a mask.

I would bust the gym door down and march over to the dumbbell rack. Grab 132LB in each hand, and commence the side laterals.

Very specific dumbbells haha

im considering actually paying for weights. which will cost roughly $800 if i get a barbell and olympic plates. thats the price for cement plates mind you, iron will cost substantially more. probably 1200 at least.

I'm considering spending the money for the X3 Bar Elite. It looks like gyms could be closed for quite awhile.

Replace your free weights, squat rack, bench press, bowflex, and other weight machines and other weight lifting tools with something better: The Jaquish Biomedical X3™ Elite Complete Home Gym System. $549

The X3 Complete Home Gym System is the result of little known clinical research performed at Cornell University, and empowers you with variable resistance, a training methodology that has been utilized in elite gym facilities to help break more than 140 strength world records in the past few years. But with X3 you don’t need thousands of dollars of custom fitness devices, or an extra room to store them in. You don’t even need to go to the gym.

Here in HB we already told Newsom to go fuck himself the last time he tried this crap. He hates HB because he tried suing us like 8 times and he lost every lawsuit. It’s still stands. He can go fuck himself.

In late March, The Huntington Beach City Council voted 5-2 to file a lawsuit against the State of California, with Councilmembers Barbara Delgleize and Kim Carr opposing the move.

May 15, 2020, Judge denies challenge to governor’s beach closure orders brought by Huntington Beach

Your Mayor said differently according to the L.A. Times last April.

Huntington Beach Mayor Lyn Semeta said the city invested considerable effort and expense to discourage overcrowding at the beaches and worked hard to ensure the public had safe access to the beach for exercise and their mental well-being.

“Our experience here locally has been that most people are being responsible and complying with social distancing, and given that Orange County has among the lowest per capita COVID-19 death rates in California, the state’s action today seems to prioritize politics over data,” Semeta said in a written statement.

UPDATE (June 12, 2020) - As California State Parks begins working with locals on a phased and regionally-driven approach to increase access to state park units where compliance with state and local public health ordinances can be achieved, it is important for visitors to continue to practice physical distancing and avoid congregating with people outside their immediate household. Everyone has the responsibility to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.

Unfortunately, you probably will be looking for a casket, if you even live to be my age. Aren't you on the fat and not so healthy side? Or did you get your act together and lose all that baby and alcohol related weight?

I think I'm okay for another year. I had my annual physical late last summer and as usual, I am in perfect health. The annual physical is about the only time I need to see the doctor since I never get sick.

Orange Addidas  MELTDOWN.  Who goes to the doctor or dentist? Let me guess, you've had a root canal. It's a shakedown in most circumstances. I'm nearly 40, and have seen a dentist maybe once in my lifetime. Still have all my teeth. I support places like Saint Judes. You shouldn't have to pay to live.

Neither Lyn nor the Sheriff would enforce the orders. I’ve known Barbara for 20 years very nice person and we still talk frequently but she got lit up at a city council meeting along with Carr for that stupid vote.

By April our beaches were open against the request of Newsom. The order might have been given but it went against the Constitution, the Mayor knew it, the Sheriff knew it, HBPD knew it as well our lifeguards.

seriously considering pulling the trigger here 800$ will get me 10 45s 2 25s 2 10s and a olympic barbell and im.meeting some guy to buy a mini power rack for $200... really sucks i dont want to spend this much. but i dont see any alternatives...

Like 4 people gave you alternatives.

But really, you should go on FB marketplace, or use searchtempest to search all the CL's in your area.  Iron is going for 1.50-2.00 / lb here, and that's with inflated covid payments.

That much for concrete is a complete ripoff that you'll regret.

I sometimes miss those orange Adidas, but you offered me so much money when you begged me to sell them to you unwashed, that it was worth parting with them.

Wrong, oh wise-ass one. Although I go to the dentist twice a year, it is to see the dental hygienist to have all my pearly whites cleaned. Not that there's much to clean, mostly just coffee stains and to have them polished. The two teeth I am missing were pulled when I was 12 years old to make room for my upper front teeth. Yes, I had an overbite and wore braces for about a year. I even still have all 4 of my wisdom teeth, giving me 30  teeth in total. So, maybe you have two more than I do, big deal.

It is hard to imagine how bad your teeth must look and how horrible your breathe must smell if you have gone 40 years without getting your teeth cleaned. No wonder you have no love life....no body is willing to get within 10 feet of you.

It is good that you donate to St. Judes (children's research hospital, I presume). Whether one should have to pay to live, depends on how they became ill, IMO. People who are ill because they've spent a lifetime abusing their bodies with drugs, alcohol and poor eating habits, don't deserve my support.

Honestly, I probably wouldn't know if someone died from Covid-19. Do you know all the folks who workout at your gym well enough to know when they are not there, why they aren't?

If your work here is truly done, you won't read this post and if you do, you won't reply or comment on it.

Right. Well I do drink tap water. Have done so for 76 years and it hasn't seemed to hurt me. But you're also right about the generation gap. My kids and grandkids drink mostly bottled water. My generation is more conservative:
Bottled water costs from $0.89 per gallon to $8.26 per gallon, compared to fractions of a penny for water from your tap. That makes bottled water thousands of times more expensive than tap water.

Maybe it's not all generational between you and I.

How bad is Florida Water?

The most common and widespread contaminants in Florida are bacteria, nitrates and lead. Other chemicals like ethylene dibromide (EDB), tetrachlorethylene (PCE) and temik have also been found in isolated areas. Contaminated drinking water can cause a number of diseases, and is sometimes fatal to vulnerable people.
not to forget about all that 'gator poop.

When someone dies at the gym word travels pretty fast.  I am talking about the people who actually show up at the gym.
