So you really think it's because not enough people are wearing masks, going to Trump rallies, and large crowds? Nothing to do with the leadership. Why don't you google the percentage of people with covid who didn't wear a mask, or got it from a Trump rally or large crowd. What is the percentage of people in your state who actually go to Trump rallies or gather in large crowds?
I have no idea what the percentage of people go the Trump rallies in Oregon. The photo below is of a Trump rally. It was taken in front of the capital building on September 8. I've seen and attended rallies at the capital that had many more people and no police, but they weren't rallies for candidates in a national election. They were events like senior recognition day and funding for schools, etc.
As for mask wearing, nobody knows the percentage of people with Covid-19 who didn't wear masks. There is a good chance many people lie when asked if they wore a mask. If you consider how Covid spreads, it is logical that wearing a mask is better than not wearing a mask. Wearing disposable gloves makes sense too since the virus lives for days on surfaces. My guess is that the people who caught Covid-19 who actually always wore masks, got it from touching some surface and then touching their face. One possible way wearing a mask might contribute to catching the virus is that in my experience the mask need frequent adjustments. Most people use their hands to adjust the mask and likely touch their face while doing it. Although, you'd need to touch your mouth nose or eyes. I doubt it transfers through the skin.
These types of viruses don't live long on porous surfaces. If this is true of Covid-19, it is unlikely you'd transfer the virus from touching your clothing. These viruses are more likely to get trapped within the fibers and weave of permeable surfaces like fabric, making it less likely for the virus to later transfer to your hand, face or another surface. These viruses are much less infective (potentially non-infective) when dried out, and fabrics are more likely to absorb and suck water away from a virus.
Public places where you eat and drink are likely virus spreaders since as best as I know you can't eat or drink with a mask on. I went to a bar awhile back. Masks were required. The only time people put them on was when they ordered a drink. Social distancing was a joke since besides drinking many people converse in bars. Such was the case in the bar I went to. I haven't gone there since that one experience. The same is true of one of the gyms where I liked to workout. While everyone coming in was wearing the required mask, 90% of the people working out weren't or they pulled it down. Social distancing at this gym is difficult because a lot of the stationary equipment is just inches away from the next piece of equipment.
