Ohearn says slow steady cardio for fat loss calories high
« on: November 29, 2020, 01:27:40 PM »
He says if ur doing sprints trying to shred the body will burn food instead of fat because the body wants to perserve its bodyfat if it feels under attack from running too hard or too over trained.

O’Hearn is unironically the most consistent, strongest bodybuilder out there today. Although he is lying through his teeth calling himself natty he looks great.

I would have worded it differently but in essence he’s right. Steady state burns way more fat

my take:

if you are a true bodybuilder steady state cardio is ideal for maintaining muscle and burning cals with limited injuries (treadmill or stair mill)

if you are john doe, its not enough calories burned and they will benefit from spin class, boot camp classes for more cals burned/getting the heart rate up and john doe isnt buring off all his precious muscle either

if you are going to ideal fat loss.... I am now a believer in fasted cardio for max fat loss

I think if you're a bodybuilder then cardio is just a supplement to your weights. Walking fast is probably the best thing for cardio. It doesn't exhaust you for lifting and it burns fat. Doing hard cardio like intervals will leave you exhausted for your weight workouts. There is only so much energy available if you're lifting weight four to six times a week.

What factual data are you basing this assertion on? Anecdotal does not count neither does your opinion.

The harder the cardio the more fat is burned per unit of time. What changes is the ratio of fat to carbs burned. Low intensity cardio burn more fat measured as pecentage.

You are leaving out factual data proving HIIT burns far more fat on the days post session. Only high intensity cardio does this, steady state just burns so many cals per session performed. I thought you knew this stuff its old now. My boy fukkenshredded pioneered HIIT for the fitness community 20 years ago.

smh.  Please please please  STOP calling cardio  "fat burning".  Cardio is simply heart health exercises to strengthen the heart and cardio system.  Roughly 20 minutes at somewhere around 80 percent of max heart rate 3 times a week  is all thats needed for CARDIO. ( heart health) Any more does NOT improve heart but it does burn muscle.  Now for fat loss its long duration at a slower heart rate. The body wont burn muscle at 60 percent of heart rate max or a little lower. You can do it everyday all day if you want. Boring but it does burn just FAT CALORIES.  CARDIO burns muscle after about 20 minutes and you burn stored glycegen  during the first 20 minutes. with very little fat burned.  Ohearn is right. Its just common sense to understand the difference between fat burning and cardio. 2 totally different things

The irony is, why get so fat? Why pig out? Where is the self respect and self discipline?

From what i've seen, very few people have the discipline to stay lean year round.

Our culture has gotten lazy and eats too much garbage.

O'hearn is a liar about using gear, but he's not exactly wrong here. He knows what he's doing.

Just wish he would be honest and also let us know how much GH/T3 he's using to get lean. ;)

It is impossible for a natural to be lean while carrying a lot of muscle.
