"Working" Remotely/From Home During Covid?
« on: December 01, 2020, 08:01:41 AM »
Ya'll are getting fired in 2021.  ;D

I have plenty of friends and family who admit they are doing nothing but joining zoom meetings they have nothing directly to do with.

Forget being furloughed - companies have now identified and will be laying off all the dead weight in 2021.

Haha, how soft is our society that we have people sitting around paying somebody else to go through the drive thru?

Companies do save money on electricity, water, toilet paper, paper towels, coffee, "team building" activities, etc., by having their employees work from home.

my company has gone fully remote; we save millions alone on rent(we're in nyc) which we've passed on to the employees that is on top of the money\time the average employee saves by not having to commute in nyc. More so we track metrics that show we're way more productive working from home

delaying the inevitable

they aren't needed,

IT professionals?

LOls

pretending they can do what I cant  when i can just  learn to do myself on a youtube tutorial?

I hired a team of IT professionals to build me a new server, two years ago

they are far from smart

I caught them "googling"

how to fix things

then I fired them

The world is so different today.  We used to get "experts" to do the smallest things that we now just Google and learn ourselves.  I don't know how any personal trainers can even get 1 client today.

By IT professionals I meant Software Developers.  They are in high demand, and in short supply.

This is true, a lot of businesses are going to a more mobile work environment.

My buddy works for Dell and said that the executive leadership has already stated that they will be reducing their office space by 50% across the board. People can work from home full time or come in 2-3 days a week on a rotation. If they come into the office they will have a shared desk policy so each person doesn't need a dedicated work station.

I think it's great, for the most part i believe most businesses that are office based will feel more comfortable letting people work from home.

The Owner of the company i work for was against letting people work from home at first, but since everyone has gotten their work done he's letting people work from home permanently if they want to.

I'm one of 5 people who still goes to the office. Mainly because i have less distractions and it's only a few miles away.

Most people work more hours from home. You factor in travel time, dedicated lunch time and proximity to their computer, people will work more hours each day.

I just saved myself over £100 fixing my shower by googling how to do.it rather than hiring a plumber
