Of course I do. How has Trump influenced you?
Trump calling for the protesters/supporters to march and disrupt the electoral process is completely as low class as it gets.
But if he was so "influential" why didnt the protests end when he spoke out against them? Or do groups of people do what they want regardless of influence?
I think you're referring to the BLM-related protests throughout last year, and I think the obvious reason is because those protesters were marching AGAINST what trump stood for. So obviously his condemnations would carry less weight with them. Just like your wife or girfriend or child would be much more likely to influence you to do something they asked you to do than someone you don't like or care for. Likewise, when that person appealed to you to stop doing something, you'd be more resistant to them than someone you liked or respected. And influence does not necessarily mean force. It has different levels, and just amplifying a message is a big deal.
trump spent a huge chunk of the start of his presidency blasting peaceful NFL protests, so why would anyone who cared about the issue take his opinion on protests as measured. It could be reasonably argued that his behavior was huge contributing factor in the protests getting so much traction.
It's so interesting how a lot of the right turn into behavioral psychologists and fortune tellers when it comes to interpreting what the left means and wants to happen, but when it comes to repug personalities (and specifically cheeto), they turn into autistics who can't understand anything that's not laid out in bullet point format.
He'll trash nfl players for peaceful protests, but then meet with his daughter's socialite friend to publicize his prison reform initiatives. He'll speak out of both sides of his mouth on covid19 which results in members here calling it a hoax, until Trump gets it, afterwhich it immediately turns into a politically-motivated assassination attempt. He'll tweet "Free The States" and when states threaten to open, he'll claim it's too soon and that's not what he meant. He'll play into Q-anon theories by making huge press blitzes related to human trafficking initiatives. And there's nothing wrong with human trafficking initiatives, but they overwhelmingly benefit adults, specifically sex workers and immigrants. He's blatantly and patently divisive on his own, but his ambiguity is an even more powerful source of division. And it's clear as day that he weaponized it for political gain- to a certain extent, even against his own party.
