Its poisoned the minds of my parents and the man i live with. Whats sad is they are all quick to shoot down any opposing views to the point that my stepfather proudly blocks his trump supporting friends and has ceased all communication with them. Completely cut off relatives that support trump etc. My mother is lock step with him. Listening to them is like watching the news lol they are human parrots. I thought progressives were open minded? I dont know of any who actually are.

For me - 2007.

I stopped watching the mainstream right-wing [FOX News] in 2003, due to the lies surrounding Saddam Hussein, to initiate the war in Iraq based on lies.  In 2007, the leftist lies of Jon Stewart made me abandon the mainstream left-wing.

Since then, I've only caught snippets of mainstream media while at a hotel, or clips from mainstream media on YouTube - which I would never tolerate if not for open comments' sections where people can refute the garbage contained in the video.

For me - 2007.

I try to watch a little of everything just to somewhat gauge the insanity. I had never seen this channel but it’s “Free Speech TV” - which is FAR from free speech. It’s an outlet for ultra-left ideology. There was a woman speaking about Harris/Biden creating a “Minister of Equity” - HOW DO PEOPLE NOT SEE THIS AS A HUGE STEP TOWARDS COMMUNISM???

I know that NOT ONE of the Getbig leftists will respond to this question, but I sincerely want to hear an argument in favor of a minister of equity. Have people not read Animal Farm?!?!  I read that to my kids when they were about junior high age and then they read again later. We are LITERALLY using Animal Farm and 1984 as instruction manuals.

I haven't watched the news regularly in 3 years. When Covid hit i would watch a little bit, but was too quickly reminded how biased and full of half truths it is. Like, watch CNN for 30 minutes, then switch to Fox for 30 minutes. It's completely different and extremely biased. How people get trapped into it blows my mind.

After not watching it for years it's like your mind clears up and you can see it for what it truly is, propaganda. It's subjective information that is trying to get an emotional response from you, it's not "news". It's trying to make you feel a certain way instead of thinking for yourself.

I know people who watch Fox/CNN/MSNBC/etc for hours every day. That's a very depressing way to live, there is very rarely anything positive on the news anymore.

My girlfriend watches the 10pm news every night, just the local channel. When i stay at her place she tries to convince me to watch it, not happening. She gets all worked up sometimes and texts me all her thoughts about what she saw on the news during the day since she works from home, i typically respond with "that's interesting", which means "i don't fucking care".

I don't need that negativity in my life, I'm a very happy person who focuses on more important things.

I quit the Canadian military over North America's role in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, and it was just too big a lie for me to let go.  Not to mention - George W. Bush Jr. was just such a horribly bad liar.  But hey - in the end, him and his Zionist handlers failed to get their desired war with Iran off the ground because of the failed war in Iraq, so I guess it's not as if their lies came at no cost.

Not only is what you mentioned a huge step towards communism, Covid-19 measures are a huge step towards communism, if the current path doesn't change.

^ I came home one day in the summer of 1993 from the comic book store when I was 11, and saw this soap opera on TV, with the character buried alive.

I watched that damn show every day for a MONTH until the female character who was buried alive was eventually dug up.

A FLIPPING MONTH.

The very episode she was saved was when I stopped watching that series [either Young & the Restless or Days or Our Lives], and VOWED TO NEVER WATCH A SOAP OPERA EVER AGAIN.

It was 10 years after that, that I stopped watching mainstream right-wing news [2003], and four years after I stopped watching mainstream right-wing news, that I stopped watching mainstream left-wing news [2007], thus ceasing to watch it all.

The only mainstream anything I watch now are movies, and given the political messages contained in them - some subtle, some overt - I rarely even watch new movies anymore.

I'm going to watch those soap opera Vivian buries Carly alive videos now though.  I'm not sure which one to start with, so I'll just go with the one that shows up first on the search:

I remember the buried alive thing, my mom was big into soaps back then.

Hahaha!!  I know my mom was into soaps too, but I can't remember how I stumbled into the buried alive part.  I'm watching it on YouTube now, and from what I can tell, it took 44 day for it to be resolved [??].

I know for a fact that I was watching it everyday in August of 1993...so that's, what, five episodes a week for four weeks = 20 episodes, and I recall it ending in late August.  So I must have started watching it 25% or 50% of the way in [assuming it took 40 episodes to resolve].

Haha, what a scam - this is the way mainstream media and television reels you in, and keeps you watching.

I'm so happy I quit all of it by 2007.  My policy since then has been this: if it doesn't come with an open comments' section online, I won't watch or read it.  Period.

I refuse to watch or read anything that doesn't allow falsehoods if not outright blatant lies to be called out.

I wish more people shared this standard, and I'm happy that you seem to have a high standard when it comes to refusing to be brainwashed, Overload.  That's what I like about Getbig - there's a handful of really sharp dudes here who refuse to go along with the masses without evidence for doing so...you being one of them.
