Yes, the difference between NoKo and SoKo language is kind of like the difference between Spanish and Portuguese.

They are also different physically.

North is so malnourished that their people don't grow as big.

North Korean soldier in the middle, South Korean on the right.

15 cm gap between NKor and SKor males on average!

What in the fu...I heard that a famine in the early to mid 1990's caused a height disparity between North and South Koreans...but I had NO IDEA it was 15cm!

I could see 6cm, but that's 6".  Either one is significant, actually.  Wow...environment matters more than I usually suggest.

I still think things are MOSTLY genetic...but whoa.  I can't help but feel sad for North Koreans.

A friend of mine taught English in Seoul, South Korea...said it was great.  Very Western, but without the obsession with diversity; meaning, they want to stay South Korean there.  Although I read online that there are some student groups in SK universities who want South Korea and North Korea to merge politically and become one unified country.

It just goes to show that far-left SJW types are going to be everywhere.

That is just one soldier.  He could just be short even for North Korean standards.  There are American soldiers that size.

A new study has revealed North Koreans really are shorter than their counterparts south of the border after years of stunted growth caused by famine and poor diet.

While the secretive nature of North Korea makes it difficult to find reliable data for analysis, a marked difference in height has long been claimed.

In 2010, the late author Christopher Hitchens put the difference at six inches in an article in Slate titled 'A Nation of Racist Dwarfs'.

Feast vs. Famine

Stunted growth—and other health issues cited in the infographic—begin with poor diet, particularly in the first two years of life. From 1994 to 1998, North Korea endured a devastating famine which led to a literally uncountable number of deaths—estimates range from 240,000 to 3.5 million.

Now, around 70% of the population are what the World Food Programme terms “food insecure,” with contributing factors including a 2015 drought, lack of farming machinery, and inhospitable terrain.

In March this year, the World Food Programme reported that food aid had declined drastically, due largely to the fact that the UN only secured 28% of the funding it required to supply food to North Koreans.

And North Korean state rations were reduced last year—although the country spends about almost a quarter of GDP on its military, compared to the average worldwide spend of 2%.

In contrast, South Korea has transformed from one of the poorest countries in the world in the aftermath of World War II, to a prosperous economy that is now the 11th largest in the world. Numerous studies have found that increases in adult height—and improved health—are linked to economic growth.

Interesting.  So I got the timeframe wrong, but there was a famine that allegedly caused this.

North Korea is secretive...I think even the military rank structure is hard to determine, and is basically only established from photos of people close to Kim Jong-Un, the rotund national dictator/owner.

I have some views on NK which I'll spare to prevent this post from growing and making up for the size deficits of North Korea's citizens, but I'll make this point:

I don't think it's fair to call North Koreans racist, or call them any names, really.  They are held hostage by a regime that is a full police state, and has something like 13 nuclear weapons.

I can't help but feel badly for them.  Also, to prove how much better free markets are to central planning, consider this:

South Korea's public sector [which only exists from ripping off the tax dollars produced under capitalism] is bigger per-capita than North Korea's entire economy.  Put another way: the crumbs produced under a capitalist economy are bigger than an entire bakery produced under communism.

It makes me understand the forces of nature various elites are up against trying to administer communism so that they can control the global economy.  They [the Rothschild family, Bill Gates, George Soros, or whoever is pulling the strings here, either individually or in combination/concert] are doing the equivalent of trying to push the masses to stop being attracted to young and beautiful people, and be attracted to 95-year-old's.  Sure, you can use propaganda to attempt that, but in the end - nature will take its course anyway.  It always has, so far.

Even in my worst nightmare, if COVID does produce a global top-down authoritarian system for the entire world, it will eventually unravel and undo itself, just how how when the USSR collapsed, it was determined that something like eight Jews owned 50% of the Russian economy, and 17 ethno-states were produced once the dust settled.  My friend's Jewish wife says you can't even identify yourself as Jewish in Russia on the streets anymore without putting your safety at risk - meanwhile, criticism of Jews was a death penalty offense in the USSR [not sure the time frame on that - towards the end, supposedly Stalin became antisemitic].

Basically with the USSR, or North Korea, or any such model, my question is: when you get into such a system, how exactly do you get out of it, aside from just letting passing time do it?  I'm not going to pretend I'm not worried about the West going full-on authoritarian.  That's my fear.  And even if the lockdowns and anti-COVID measures stopped TONIGHT, I still think we're going to see at least 25% of all small businesses close up shop permanently as a result of the current economic damage due to COVID.

Even if I tell myself things won't be like North Korea, I can't tell myself with sincerity that I don't fear serious economic collapse, at the very least.  Oh well.  Hopefully I'm all wrong.  Elon Musk is losing his mind over A.I. taking over...so I'm not the only one possibly going insane right now.

Elon Musk is losing his mind over A.I. taking over...so I'm not the only one possibly going insane right now.

nteresting.  So I got the timeframe wrong, but there was a famine that allegedly caused this.

Is there a North Korean language? ???

They have a different accent and some words are different, but it's the same language.

The development of the language is separated by 70 years, so some words and phrases are different as a result of this and there are also some slight differences in writing.
