Had an interesting discussion with someone today. Gold is used in a lot of electronics because it does not corrode. It's used in space equipment as well. If the price of gold is too high the cost of electronics would go up. So there is an incentive to keep the price within reason. Bitcoin does not have this issue. So it is free to rise.
