National Guard members occupied, guarded, and slept in the U.S. Capitol as the House moved to impeach President Trump for a second time. Striking photos being shared online are highlighting the resemblance to imagery from the Civil War.

According to House security, Wednesday marks the first time troops have set up camp overnight in the U.S. Capitol since the Civil War in the 1860s.

The soldiers were deployed following the deadly pro-Trump insurrection at the Capitol exactly one week ago, which sparked fears of and preparation for more violence, potentially across the nation, ahead of President-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration on January 20.

“Right now [Jan. 11], we have approximately 6,200 National Guard soldiers and airmen from six states and the District of Columbia on the ground in the [National Capital Region] supporting civilian authorities.” Army Gen. Daniel Hokanson, Chief of the National Guard Bureau said in a statement, adding that they have “received support requests from the Secret Service, Capitol Police, and Park Police, and have been authorized to provide up to 15,000 Guard members to meet current and future inauguration support requirements.”

The National Guard members were activated following the violent breach of the Capitol by pro-Trump rioters on January 6, while Congress voted to certify President-elect Biden’s electoral victory on January 6. Federal law enforcement officials have opened at least 160 cases related to the attack that left five people dead.

Startling images show droves of the soldiers, some sleeping, in the Capitol’s halls as lawmakers, staff and guests operate around them.   these are the true patriots guarding our sacred American institutions from the scourge of the orange turd.

it's a much different world today, there was no social media spreading propaganda in the 80's and most americans were proud to be americans and weren't trying to burn it down like your dem friends are today, so i'd say being president was easier back then

At one point during the riot, Sullivan was part of a crowd trying to push their way into a room guarded by police officers, according to the documents. He allegedly yelled that he had a knife and asked for people to “let him up.”
In a video posted on his YouTube channel, Sullivan says he wasn’t in D.C. to be a participant in the riot. He says he only appeared to be participating in the riots so he could blend in for his own safety.
“I have to blend in to the f------ crowd because, you know, there’s a lot of people who wanted to hurt me,” he said.
Sullivan is the founder of Insurgence USA, a Utah group focused on police reform and racial justice that he started after the death of George Floyd. An online fundraiser says the group wants to build local power to enable the community to “intervene in violence enacted by the state and government vigilantes.”

Insurgency USA was started after George Floyd's death. Thats exactly what trump supporters would start up for sure.
While I don't doubt many people who entered the capital building were Trump supporters, the violence was mostly instigated by Antifa and BLM agitators masquerading as trump fans and  thats a fact.

One day after President Trump was impeached for the second time and with less than a week to go before President-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration, the Trump White House began cleaning out its desks on Thursday.

While 20,000 National Guard troops have descended upon Washington in order to protect the capital from pro-Trump protests expected in the coming days, White House staffers were spotted removing a bust of President Abraham Lincoln from the West Wing.


Staffers did not immediately clarify if the bust belongs to the White House permanent collection, or where it was headed. Other West Wing employees were seen carrying out personal effects from offices.


Assistant to the president Peter Navarro was also seen carrying a framed photograph out of the White House on Wednesday, despite his insistence that Trump had won the election.
