Coleman-Cutler-Badell question
« on: April 20, 2006, 04:10:22 PM »
For the past two years Coleman has been first, Cuter second, and Badell third.  Many people seem 2 believe Coleman is nearing the end of his run and in most ways I agree with them on this.  However, and this is just my opinion, I dont think Cutler deserves the automatic 2nd place spot he seems to have been guarranteed these last few years.  whether u like him or not, Ronnie Coleman is a great and amazing bodybuilder and has pushed the limits greatly. In 04, alot of people questioned Badell's high placing at 3rd and speculated it was a gift. Badell proved them wrong by placing third again in 05 with an amazing physique.this next coment may get me in some hot water.  I think at this moment in time Badell is the one who can either give coleman the biggest run fo his money, as he did in 05 even tho the judges refused to compare he and coleman, or the one who should rightfully take over once coleman steps down.  no disrespect 2 cutler, as he is an amazing bodybuilder, but to say he could beat Badell, or for that matter take Coleman, with his bloated gut he was sporting at the 05 olympia, is ridiculous.this is just my opinion.  I think Badell was over looked at the 05 olympia and was not properly compared to the champ.I also think if Badell comes in in the right condition in 06 he could possibly top coleman or take the title whn coleman retires. What do u think?hit me back.

I dont think Jay's gut is any more bloated than Badell's or Coleman's

Jays gut came from th carb up.... He has been seen many times since with a tight midsection ( for a man of his size) You forget how huge Cutler is. Badell had a worse gut than cutler and learned to control it... There is no way badell is better than Jay.

The top three at the 05 Olympia were all sporting guts , so its the lesser of 3 evils of you will and Badell is getting better ( so is Jay ) but if or once we see Coleman retire or lose , Badell may be Cutlers bridesmaid like Jay was to Ronnie .

Remember that Badell never really "beat" Dexter Jackson. The one time was at the 2004 Olympia thanks to the challenge round. Everyone knows that was BS. The only reason Badell took 3rd in 2005 was, again, because of the challenge round. Beating Gunter in the 4th round was based on nothing but his "winning" the challenge round. If you look at the score sheets, Badell was never really in contention for third in either year. Therefore, the real number 3 is the Blade himself. This was reaffirmed at the 2006 ASC where Dex raped Badell.

That brings us to who will succeed Ronnie. The easy money would be on Jay, but I'm not so sure. Jay might be big but his conditioning is no where near that of Jackson. I suspect that he'll fall victim to the same circumstances that killed Nasser when Dorian retired after his win in '97. El Sonbaty was the closest physically to Dorian and when yates left, he was out of place. The same will be true of Jay. Dexter is far too complete to lose to Cutler in an Olympia without Ronnie. Jay has no one to compare to in terms of physique type. Right now, the Olympia is being marketed as a clash between two people - two mass monsters - Jay and Ronnie. With Coleman gone,  the discrepancy between Jay's conditioning and that of Dex will mean "lights out" for Jay.

Don't get me wrong: Jay is a tremendous bb and a great person. The problem is that I just can't see him wiining without Ronnie to stand next to. It could turn out to be like the 2003 Ironman where he was ridiculously bigger than everyone else on stage so he was the obvious winner. Either way, you can count Badell out of the mix. His gut destorys his physique and he just doesn't have the cool attitude of the Blade. It'll definetly be interesting to see who can come out on top. I wish them all the best, but my money is on Dexter Jackson. Of course he still ahs to wait for Big Ron to retire . . .

How about Cutler winning the best wheels award at the 05 Olympia?Personally, I think that was shamefull as Branch Warren and Mustafa Muhamed had much better leg development than Cutler, they just didnt finish in the top 5.And although I respect ur opinions on the cutler-badell debate, I still think Badell is a much better bodybuilder than Cutler and it was just wrong he(badell) wasnt compared 2 Ronnie.I guess thats what these boards r for though.however, whomever brought up Dexter Jackson taking the throne makes a good point that had not ocured to me, although i dont think politics will allow Dex to become mr. O.good feedback tho.

Just look at the Olympia posters - It's the Jay and Ronnie Show - without Ronnie, Jay doesn't fit - where does he go? Dex will take over and reinvent the standard.

I doubt it. Do people really want a 5' midget with monster A taper to be the new standard. Highly, highly unlikely.

None of the big guys today can come in as ripped as Dex (except Ronnie). Once coleman retires, the ultimate mass will be gone and ridiculous conditioning will be the new standard. Dex has the size to be compettiive with bigger bodybuilders but he rapes them in overall detail and conditioning. Standing next to Dex and Gustavo, Jay won't look as good as he does now becuase the disparity will be more pronounced without the parade of mass monsters to distract the judges.

Vic won't be able to catch Dex yet becuase he still hasnt mastered his conditioning. The one thing you can expect, other than ronnie winning, is that The Blade will come is sharper and more cut than anyone else. Martinez has a good shot though, but not for a few more years, even after Ronnie retires. Of course, dex is like 36 or 37 so time might be running out for him . . .

I wouldn't mind Gunter being the next Mr. O after Ronnie hangs it all up. He's a huge bb and has a winning smile to boot. Marketability? Fuggetaboutit!
