I think you missed my point which was that wages are already higher than $7.25 and hour in all but 12 states.  Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, New Hampshire, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Utah, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin and California all have prevailing wage which is considerably higher than the minimum wage.

Thirty-two states have prevailing wage laws that require contractors on state funded construction projects to pay their workers at least the same wages customarily paid for similar private sector work. Wisconsin has the highest prevailing wage in the nation, which is $148,000.

There's also the median wage which varies by state.
These states reported the highest median hourly wages for all occupations as of May 2016:
Alaska: $22.68
Massachusetts: $22.45
Connecticut: $21.68
Washington: $20.87
Maryland: $20.68
New York: $20.56
New Jersey: $20.17
California: $19.67
Minnesota: $19.28
Hawaii: $19.24

This is a link to an interactive map for the median household income by state: https://worldpopulationreview.com/state-rankings/median-household-income-by-state

The national average individual income for 2020 is $62,518.13

When you look at the whole picture, it is pretty easy to understand that there is a huge income/wage disparity in the U.S. It is pretty clear that $7.25 an hour is not a living wage.

It is true that raising wages increases small businesses' expense which may result in hiring freezes, reduction in hours and benefits and lay offs.  However, in order to run most small businesses requires at least a minimum of staff. Small businesses compete with large business for entry level employees. Nationally, Starbucks pays their barista's between $12 and $13 and hour as a starting wage. Nationally McDonald's cashiers on average make $16. an hour. However, the range is between $7. and 31. and hour.

When has the minimum wage ever been a living wage? And for what region? Also please show me stats where McDonald’s is paying a cashier $31 an hour, lol. What would a UPS driver in that area make $70 an hour?

Do you read this before you post?

I know. I was very surprised that McDonald's paid any of their employees $30.71. It is the top wage listed. Even their average wage for a cashier surprised me, which is $16.27. I assumed these people made minimum wage.

Nobody said minimum wage should equal a living wage. $15. an hour is  not a living wage in most parts of the United States.

Here you go:

https://www.ziprecruiter.com/Salaries/Mcdonalds-Cashier-Salary-per-Hour

Prime...... Ziprecruiter is wrong. IF McDonald’s is paying a cashier $31 an hour it’s an anomaly for a 30 year employee.

Amazon says they need an in-person vote for workers to unionize because of mail-in vote fraud.   ;D

I believe they make it clear that it is an anomaly.

This conversation about wages got me to thinking about my economic standing when I first moved into my own place at 18.

My first real job in 1962 was working in display for a major upscale department store in Beverly Hills, CA. It was a full time job. I was paid $1.50 an hour, $260 a month less income tax. The minimum wage was slightly less than that. Back then, I didn't think about benefits such as healthcare insurance which probably explains why I don't remember if the job included benefits.

Interestingly enough, I was able to get by on that tiny salary. I rented a one bedroom courtyard cottage on Larabee st. in West Hollywood, a block down from Sunset Strip for $75. a month which probably included utilities. The place was not furnished. My parents helped me furnish it with second hand furniture including my bed from my old room. The living room couch was also a single bed, which is what my flaky, sometimes roommate slept on.

The 55 Chevy Nova my parents bought me wasn't running at the time, but gas was $0.25. A pound of hamburger was about $0.45. I could buy a beer at a bar for $0.25, (although the legal age was 21, I was able to get served at 18 and not asked for ID). I even had enough money to go see performances at the Troubadour by singers such as Oscar Brown Jr.

I was probably dead broke most of the time. But, what great times those were. Incidentally, I met my future wife while working at that department store. We married when I was 20 years old and she was an old lady of 21. ;D
My how times have changed. An apartment in Hollywood California, for $75 dollars a month? Unbelievable.

Liuna is a labor union. There job is to protect the employees who work in their union jobs. More employees = more union dues paid to Liuna. That's not a bad thing. I'm in favor of unions. But, what would you expect them to say? Thank you for cutting jobs and thus are members and the income they produce for us?

 ???

They VOTED FOR BIDEN, AND ARE NOW IMMEDIATELY UNEMPLOYED.

That's the f*cking point - this is what happens when your dumb sh*t left-wing model gets implemented.

This union voted Biden, and are now bitching.

Cut and paste from PolitiFact is not “fact checking”, Janitor.

“Just for context, PolitiFact was created by the Tampa Bay Times. The TBT and PolitiFact are owned by the leftist Poynter Institute, who have blatantly lied in their falsified defense of BLM and are responsible for Facebook’s “fact-checking” regime.”

But you already knew that you lying, sanctimonious Janitorial prick.

Primemuscle doesn't seem to understand...anything, from what I can tell.

He posted saying one of Trump's election lawsuits was a "Frankenstein's Monster", according to the judge.

I asked the dumb fuck SPECIFICALLY what th problem with the lawsuit was, and he said nothing. So he's either being disingenuous, or is too stupid to defend his moronic views. Either way, Iearn nothing from some ad hominem-spewing leftist like him.

Les, check this one out. Lol, I need to kick back and read entertaining stuff like this:

No problem

The vote was certified by every Secretary of State including many Republican Secretary of State

The Traitor lost every single court case (except one which didn't help him at all)

The vote was accurate and valid and your guy lost IN A LANDSLIDE

get over.. or not ...no one gives a shit what you think and it doesn't matter

Your constant whining like a little bitch just makes our victory that much sweeter

Certification only means they refused to the hear the evidence. That’s not proof, commie

Where, I read the link.

If this is the case then it’s disingenuous of you to suggest it’s a legitimate wage to expect.

This is the worst example of electoral fraud I have ever seen in my life. The riots last year were the biggest in my life.

Some good memories.  When my mother moved our family to NYC in the late 60s, the 2 BR apartment cost $65/month.  My mother started sending me to the local bodega for cigarettes when I was 8 or 9, and the cost $1.65 a pack.

You’re comparing reviewing of a split second sports play with investigating and auditing the results of a presidential election to protect election integrity and the voting rights of the citizens in a democracy?

Come on Josh, you are way smarter than that.

Agreed, let’s open everything up to an investigation and audit that is transparent to the public.

If the results of the election are legitimate, why should either side oppose that?

There doesn’t have to be whining, but my guess is that the DC swamp doesn’t want the public to see what’s really behind the curtain.

Also...in 1999 a player could be in the goal crease if he had possession of the puck.

Maybe Dominik Hasek should have flopped less?

It’s not the whining that he “won” it’s maybe trying to make people understand what policies are attached to the ones the vote for. This election was a vote out pure hate because of the propaganda they fell for not giving a shit about how those policies will affect the country. If the gave two shits about the country they might have thought this out. These are not Patriots (to this country) in anyway, shape or form. Maybe the next time they’ll realize the consequences of their vote.

Whatever you say, oh wise and mighty one. ::) You lost. Get over it.

FYI, I did once work as 'janitor' and I see nothing wrong with that. So, if you think you are revealing something that's intended to make me look bad or upset me, well it's a total fail. Call me a janitor all you want, if it makes you feel better about your sorry self.

My strong hunch is you spent your adult life working as a janitor so that you could be in close proximity to young school children.

Now go clean the shitter, Janitor.

This election has already been investigated ad nauseam. My guess is you and your comrades don't want to see what's behind the curtain. Too bad, because eventually you will and then you will wish you hadn't looked.

There has been no unbiased, transparent, legitimate full-scale investigation of the election results and you know that. But you are a chronic liar. You cut and paste bullshit because you don’t have the intelligence to support the weak positions of the Biden administration or your idiotic political ideology.

You wasted your life as a janitor.

You never accomplished anything.

Your children are white trash welfare bums.

Your opinion here is invalid because you’re a disgusting soggy old pervert.

And you spent your life gleefully cleaning up other people’s piss and shit.

Janitor.

Gentlemen I think the obvious point we are missing is if one person can change so much upon being elected it can just as easily be changed by the next “elected” official. Next election conservatives will be ready to “win”.
