Hey Coach. rather than post the Gateway Pundit's typically distorted untruthful version of what Tara Lee Rodas said on April 26, 2023, why not her actual testimony? Guess you prefer the sensationalized lies that support your foregone right wing nut job theories and erroneous views. Too bad because child trafficking is a serious issue that needs immediate attention, which is what she's asking for. The Gateway Pundit turns it into a political football. Since most intelligent people don't put any stock in what the Gateway Pundit publishes, their half-truths and outright lies work against resolving this serious problem.
https://judiciary.house.gov/sites/evo-subsites/republicans-judiciary.house.gov/files/evo-media-document/rodas-testimony.pdfHere are some of Ms. Ried's key remarks from her testimony yesterday which at the Gateway Pundit intentionally left out of their asinine misleading article:
"My goal is to inspire action to safeguard the lives of migrant children, including the staggering 85,000 that are missing."
"Today, children will work overnight shifts at slaughterhouses, factories, restaurants to pay their
debts to smugglers and traffickers. Today, children will be sold for sex. Today, children will call a
hotline to report the are being abused, neglected, and trafficked.
For nearly a decade,
unaccompanied children have been suffering in the shadows."(in 2021) "...I volunteered to help the Biden Administration with the crisis at the Southern Border... to help the HHS Office of
Refugee Resettlement reunite children with sponsors in the US."
"
Whether intentional or not, it can be argued that the US Government has become the
middleman in a large scale, multi-billion-dollar, child trafficking operation run by bad actors
seeking to profit off the lives of children." Note: she did not say this was intentional, she alluded to that.
"
I don’t view this as a political issue. I view this as a humanitarian issue."
"It’s my hope you’ll take action to end this crisis and safeguard the lives of these vulnerable children."
"People have asked me, 'What would you do to turn the ship around?'" Ms. Rodas goes on to list several excellent ideas for doing this which I will let you read for yourself.
She ends her testimony with this reminder, "Again, I have hope. I’m counting on you. It’s my hope you’ll take action on to end this crisis and safeguard the lives of these vulnerable children."
Nowhere in her testimony is President Biden mentioned or alluded to as he is in the Gateway Pundit article you linked. Maybe this is because to the best of her knowledge this problem has been going on for at least 10 years, which means three administrations are accountable and not just the current one.
In 2021, Tara Lee Rodas was a Training Instructor at the Council of the Inspectors General on Integrity and Efficiency in Washington, District of Columbia. Rodas began working at the Council of the Inspectors General on Integrity and Efficiency in 2020 with a starting salary of $157,709. Since then, Rodas's salary has increased to $159,286 in 2021.
I have no idea what Ms. Rodas earns today in her current position, but since whistle blowers whether in the private or public sector, put their jobs in jeopardy when they "blow the whistle" she puts at risk a decent income and career. Note: since Ms Rodas is a federal employee, technically she is not volunteering as she said; she is employed in her current position.
Tara Lee Rodas is a GS-14 under the general schedule payscale.
