Someone asked if Dave shagged Monica.
hipolita meija would know.
Someone thought Monica was a new competitor. I can see why - she looks very young.
I didn't know she was a fitness competitor. I thought figure.
Two people are saying she has pounds of makeup on. I didn't notice. But yeah...I can see it now.
Does she really need that much makeup?
It's a normal industry thing to not have body image issues. I'm not sure if there is any "solution" to that. It seems to me she'd look fine with no makeup, and probably look ideal with minimal makeup. Is that wrong?
Monica Brant started in fitness; she actually won the Fitness Olympia in 1998. She switched to figure, as did lot of older fitness competitors, based on complaints that fitness routines were too gymnastics-based.
That had been an issue in the amateur ranks. Fitness shows used to have three rounds. Based on which round made up 50% of the score, we'd see the same women place high in one show and low in another.
If the physique round was 50% of the score, the women with great bodies but little athleticism would reign supreme. If the fitness round comprised 50% of the score, mediocre-looking ladies, who could launch themselves into orbit and do pushups with their feet coming out of their ears, ruled the roost.
Then they tried to level the field with the Ms. Galaxy, where the fitness round was an obstacle course. That backfired as too many women were twisting ankle, blowing knees, and bruising up themselves on the track. Those who weren't carted off had to then cleanup, slap on tiniest bikinis they could legally wear, and do the physique round.
Former American Gladiator, Raye "Zap" Hollitt, talked about how she had to share tape and knee wraps with her fellow competitors, as some had no clue how to gear up for an event like this. She did well there, despite not quite having the fitness/figure look, because she kicked butt on the obstacle course.
I'm not sure if Brant ever did the Galaxy. But, it wouldn't surprise me. Some thought she was a "tweeter", too big for fitness but not big enough for bodybuilding (ala Debbie Kruck). Brant won a fitness show in 1995, where she was about the size of runner-up, Renita Harris (who just won the Team Universe overall bodybuilding title earlier that year).
