Mostly good people trying to do a horrible job. Larger issue IMO is municipalities militarizing police forces and picking and choosing laws to enforce, which makes the traditional peace officer role impossible.

Cops form their own caste in society, especially in the US.
The bad ones seem to be given a lot of attention further putting fuel into the fire. On the other hand they help an ever increasing and dysfunctional state projecting power so they're guilty of treason.

A fair number of people who say "fuck the police" are people who called 911 when something went wrong and assumed they'd get some sort of help.

While my opinion as a Brit is irrelevant here, I did follow some live streams of the riots and infernos peaceful protests last year, and was sickened by the 'ACAB' chant from the asymmetric stinky hippy reject mob playing their fvcking djembe drums...

-Never had a problem with the police. I treat them with respect and they treated me the same.

In 1985, late at night, I was pulled over for going 25 miles over the speed limit on the freeway. The policeman as me if I knew how fast I was going. I said no. He replied, "This is a fancy car, use the cruise control." -No ticket. I said thank you. My car was an '83 Peugeot 505 sti.

Another time I made a right turn on a red light from the center lane of a three lane off ramp (which is legal in Oregon). A motorcycle cop gave me a ticket for running a light. I said thanks. -Took it to traffic court. The officer spoke first, telling the judge I'd run a red light. I explained why. The judge said that he knew the intersection well. He told the policeman my turn was legal, then dismissed the ticket. I hoped I never saw that cop again. He was pissed.

I was pulled over at 10:30 pm in Lake Oswego by two policeman for no apparent reason. One of them asked me if I'd had anything to drink. I said yes about an hour ago with dinner. They gave me a field sobriety test, which I easily passed. Because I told the truth and was not intoxicated. Oswego police are notorious for doing this. They've been known to write bogus tickets....not this time. I did not thank them, but I was cooperative and polite, hiding the fact that I was pissed.

Even when the police are in the wrong, if you are polite to them, it usually pays off. At least that has been my experience.

Where I’m staying, they are corrupt and inefficient.

There are many cases of them involved in robberies, cash-in-transit heists, ATM bombings and ‘losing’ weapons which land up in the hands of criminals, who they are obviously selling to. Even been implicated in farm attacks.

Most law enforcement is done by private security, despite having to pay taxes for the so-called police ‘service’.

Going to a police station for anything or to get documents certified is a nightmare, disinterested staff, huge queues, and they’re rude and most of them have an attitude problem, they treat everyone like trash and do not seem to care about helping you.

And same with other government public servants, they treat everyone like trash. A type of brutal, subhuman behaviour, going to any government institution is a nightmare.
