Where I’m staying, they are corrupt and inefficient.

There are many cases of them involved in robberies, cash-in-transit heists, ATM bombings and ‘losing’ weapons which land up in the hands of criminals, who they are obviously selling to. Even been implicated in farm attacks.

Most law enforcement is done by private security, despite having to pay taxes for the so-called police ‘service’.

Going to a police station for anything or to get documents certified is a nightmare, disinterested staff, huge queues, and they’re rude and most of them have an attitude problem, they treat everyone like trash and do not seem to care about helping you.

And same with other government public servants, they treat everyone like trash. A type of brutal, subhuman behaviour, going to any government institution is a nightmare.

Sure there are a small percentage of bad cops, just like there are bad doctors, engineers, accountants, etc.

It's just the circle of human existence.

I've met quite a few that seemed to be on a power trip, but given the situation i believe they needed to be a little aggressive.

Hell, i got pulled over and held at gun point once because they mistook my car for a car that had just done an armed robbery. I was cool about it, mistakes happen.

Most people forget that most of the accidental shootings and mistakes they make in the field are due to being in a very stressful situation and having to react in a split second. It's easy to criticize what a cop did after the fact. When you literally have a couple seconds to make a life or death decision, sometimes bad things happen.

That's why you follow general commands and don't pull a Floyd and resist arrest. It's easier to comply than get tazed or body slammed like those two recent upstanding citizens.

Yes, depending on where you are. If the local media in Portland, OR is accurate, much of the violent crime is committed by and on younger Latinos. Blacks are right behind them. Most of it appears to be gang and drug related. Next up is domestic violence which has no ethnic; race, religious, color or age barriers.

ok, I'll bite. So you're a police officer? I'm friends with at least 4 police officers. One friend is nearing retirement. He's a homicide detective and has the right mind for the job. He's seen so much disgusting shit but he looks at it like it's a cartoon. He comes home happy and with a clear head, ready to hang with his family.

Another works in bank robbery. The other two deal mainly with highway and domestic. All four of them agree on this...In social situations(like bars---off-duty police guys like to drink and hang out), they do not like other people knowing they are police when they're dressed in civilian clothing and they rarely discuss work amongst each other. It's a job and there's a time and place for it to be discussed, just not in social settings while off duty. But all four are good men and are as solid as they come. Brothers.
