this is why i think people have to be somewhere in the middle on the police
it's the police that will enforce the corrupt governments rules, denying people the right to make a living or live a healthy lifestyle
they are just doing their jobs? so were the nazi's
obviously defunding them is stupid and siding with BLM over the cops is insanity but the police are not your friends, they are largely hired henchman and goons that do as their master tells them, many will shoot your kids if told to do so

Not even the middle. I've said this multiple times on here, but many conservatives feel it's their obligation to reflexively support the police, yet at the same time will be anti-government and pro-gun specifically because of the possibility of government overreach. Law enforcement is the ultimate example of that and the failures show up in society in multiple places. Not that long ago, I was going back and forth with a member on here about the Breonna Taylor case. That member insisted it was a case of not reasonably complying with police, even though he acknowledged the basic facts of the case: Taylor was shot in her own home by cops, her boyfriend's handgun was licensed, they were likely not aware that cops were at the door.
It's not like police are the unique government bodies that are largely effective, the more militarized forces get, the less effective they get. They are most broken where they are needed most. People will say things like they're mostly good guys doing a shitty job. You could make that argument for any job. I guess people feel the need to deify police because of the risk of death, but that doesn't change the fact that there is a lot to be skeptical about policing, regardless of race. There's a long police state thread here and most of the posts don't deal with race.
