when I was in jail I was on whats called the cooking range, we worked in the kitchen. Anyways, there was a guy in there around my age who exposed himself to and improperly touched a 10 year old girl. The guards "accidentally" left all his paperwork in their office exposed and facing the window the prisoners walk past. Never saw that guy on the range again, Im guessing he checked in to protective custody.

Id lay odds Fortress has some amazing stories as he is a prison guard if I remember correctly

I'm a prison guard in NYS and have seen what you mention dozens of times. Behind the wall (meaning at Max A prisons) CO's will basically yell what the inmate is locked up for when he gets moved onto that block. The other cons actually appreciate this believe it or not lol! That way they don't begin to associate with some creep before they know what he's locked up for.
In medium facilities they will press a con to show his paperwork, and if he says he doesn't have it (which is a lie guaranteed) they will just read his DIN off of his state greens and call home and have their family run his DIN on the NYSDOCCS website.
They very rarely beat the con up for being a rapist, they just don't associate with him for the most part. They often times are not allowed to watch TV in the rec area and are the last con to use the stove, also get the worst time slot for the phone.

There was a real scumbag on my dorm a few years ago that was locked up for raping his 3 year old nephew. He made a comment to his bunkie that "it was ok, because god forgives all sins", this obviously didn't sit well with the rest of the cons on the dorm. They ended up jumping him on the midnight shift, beat the living shit out of this piece of trash, and then threw a shit/piss cocktail in his face when they were done with him.
One of my buddies was a responding officer that night and wasn't happy to say the least! He said the fu*ker stunk so bad that all of the responding officers were gagging when they cuffed him up and brought him to medical to get cleaned up LOL!

I love the jailhouse code. Way better than courts. The piss/shit cocktail makes it rough for everyone on the range til it gets cleaned up. Bleh. Do you guys call med range "bug range" in the states too? With my mental health issues i had to do a few days on that range first time around,...I felt sane compared to some in there

I guess the dorm stunk for damn near 2 days after that sh*tshow! Luckily I was on vacation at the time and was off for the next week or so, so it was all cleaned up by the time I got back! LOL!
The facility I'm currently at isn't a mental health facility (thank god!), but we still get a small group of crazies that either don't have documented mental health issues or aren't currently taking mental health medications. These cons are refereed to as a "bugout" by the inmate population.
I was at a facility when I first got out of the academy that was a Level 1 mental health facility, and you have no idea how insane some of those f*ckers are! They're constantly shoving stuff up their dick hole (no, I'm not kidding lol), typically either paperclips or sporks with the head broken off. Either that or they will carve their body up if they are able to get a paperclip or staple. There was one notorious inmate who was known throughout the state because he clipped off his own eyelids with a pair of toenail clippers.
