We liberals are praying that conservatives like you go with the likes of Cruz or Hawley (or hopefully not Trump himself, all three unelectable) and not the likes of Rick Scott/Ron DeSantis types who could pull it off. We recognize that a Kamala Harris victory will be a tall order, although a humming economy may work in her favor. It is hard to imagine that Democrats would tear it away from her.

Scott and/or DeSantis have no chance of succeeding on the national level.   One is a greedy crook, the other is a dumb potato.   They can get away with that here in FloriDUH, but it won't play for the rest of the country.

Hope you are right. But my gut predicted Biden way before anyone took him seriously and my gut tells me those two could pull the centrist suburban voters who could not stomach Trump back into the Republican column (enough of them anyway). And Harris will remain controversial, even for factors outside her own control (read gender, read multi-racial).

They are both Trumpy clones.  Trump would be the puppeteer of them.  Neither one has any balls, nor do they have the slim chance of growing any like Pence did.

You are neglecting to think about who is damaged goods within the Republican base which will need to be on board for any victory. Mike Pence (balls or no balls) is probably now damaged goods with Trump himself and with the base. Smoothly packaged DeSantis (I don’t know him well so I could be wrong about him) or Rick Scott (he has some health issues that could stand in his way) could have Trump rooting for them in a non-obtrusive way - I still say they could give Kamala a run for her money.

I can’t think of any other Republicans. Rubio is a pipsqueak and Christie is too fat. Haley no longer has Trump in her corner. Tom Cotton seems gay. And, as I have maintained, no possible way on a Hawley or Cruz “insurrection” type.

Rubio will never make it any further upwards.  Even now he is probably on borrowed time until Ivanka decides to run.  His next occupation will most likely be as a lobbyist.

Here is a thought. Is it possible that Trump and Nicky Haley can patch up their differences (a lot can change in 3 years or so)? A Nicky Haley vs. Kamala Harris race would be extremely interesting. In that scenario, I would bump Haley up to top tier with Scott and DeSantis as having a fair chance of beating Harris.

A booming economy, energy independence, no wars, killing terrorist leaders, gained control of the border, bringing PEACE to the Middle East, cut taxes.... the list goes on. It's so amazing to me that people are so blind to how much good he did for out country.
