Blachowicz did a very good job. He stuck to his game plan, didn't get tricked by Adesanya's fancy footwork, landed just as many strikes and utilized his wrestling/ground work. He deserved the win. It just wasn't a very exciting fight as we've come to expect from Adesanya's matches.
Adesanya did fine, but he just didn't move as fast, smooth or decisive as he typically does. Which makes sense, as Jan could have knocked him out cold if Adesanya blundered.
This fight literally felt like a better version of "Adesanya vs Romero". The fight had consistent exchanges in every round where both fighters would connect and score points. I felt the scoring was likely pretty even down the middle with the exception of Jan's takedowns certainly scoring him extra points during rounds 4 + 5.
I agree with the results. No one was robbed and Adesanya knows that to beat any champ, it has to be clear and decisive, leaving little doubt regarding your legitimacy as champ. Clearly, Adesanya needs to stick to middleweight where he is completely dominant and with no clear or threatening opponent in sight.
So much for a fight against Jon Jones. Nonetheless, I'll still watch all of Adesanya's fights. He is one of the few stars left in the UFC.
