I don't doubt that for a second. He and some of his lackeys like Ell Darden were vehemently anti-drug. They made exceptions in the 70s but went full-retard about it by 1982.

All the guys that trained that way abandoned it for more volume. Mentzer still trained his clients that way but he gave up training altogether years earlier.

Heart attack. He was still carrying a lot of muscle when he died, but he was also very fat. He was also a heavy smoker from his mid-teens to at least the 80s.

Given his association with the Mentzers, I would not be surprised if he used amphetamines for extended periods.

Heavy preacher curls always messed with my elbows.

I don't like doing curls in a fixed position anymore. Nor tricep extensions.

I think your elbow angle needs to move a round a little.

Yeah probably why Arnold & a few others did concentration curls not supported on the inside of the knee. Preacher curls are great but the bottom position is very hard on the tendons.

It is brutal on the tendons. Got my first stretch marks on lower biceps from doing preacher curls.

I worked with a guy that benched 405lbs with a tee shirt. He ripped his bicep off doing preachers curls.

Ouch!!! Deadlifts using a reverse grip causes a lot of bicep tears as well.

How do you bench 450 with a t-shirt? Do you use starch?

How does the t-shirt hold the bar?

Armwrestlers do some brutal preacher curls. Anyone know if they have analyzed their bicep tendons in some way? Disgustingly heavy arm work at a very high frequency I assume, though I haven't really looked into their training programs.

I've done it. The complete rupture was brutal. My bicep was up by my shoulder. After the operation with metal anchors it took 6 months to get my strength back in the arm. I still have some slight nerve damage giving me a weaker grip in that arm. The doc ordered an MRI when it a happened but he said he really didn't need it. He could see my bicep was torn off. I can't watch that tape. The first one made me flinch really bad.

even though there is max stretch in an incline curl i have no problem with them. prefer them to preacher curls. How do you guys find spider curls using the opposite side of the Preacher bench? i think it´s really just like a supported concentration curl.
