Not to dispute you Van,but I will anyway! LOL
I trained in the same gym as Glen Chabot who benched 722 pounds......never tore a pec.......did 3 sets of triples with 650 also.
Back in the 70` when I trained at the YMCA, Carlton Snitkin (very famous powerlifter at the time.....look him up) never tore a pec and his training partner John Pezzote who benched 505 in `74 never tore a pec and the great Jim Williams first man to bench 700 never tore a pec............the list goes on and on.
It`s these modern dweebs who are shredding their muscles with tons of gear and shitty form.
I googled the first guy. This is a quote:
"I basically over trained because I tore my pec in November and I tried to come back at less than 100%. I felt like I could pull off the win being 90% or so with a low 7. I almost got 735 in the gym, I've seen the video like 6 times now. I was about 2 inches from lockout, but I lost balance and that's when I pulled my pec." - Chabot
More big benchers have torn pecs than not. Some only minor tears but tears nonetheless. Some injuries we may not even know about because they just keep training through it all and don't say shit.
