Author Topic: King Kamali Claims he is Banging 24 year olds (Read 11079 times)

Kings , viable pro BB "career" peaked and quickly ended 19-20 yrs ago.
This was at dawn of social media, so it's no coincidence, he's still out there .

In fairness to KING, unlike a lot of famous social media figures, he actually did something in pro BB.
Compare that to the countless IFBB pro bikini babes on IG who turned pro by getting 2nd at the Jr USA .

Don't even get me started on the social media bodybuilding celebs that never won anything or even competed .
I'm no fan of king, but at least he was a legit BB pro and earned his pro card.

Even if he didn't have anything broken, once you past 40, the permabulker look " works totally against you..
I don't know why can't any pro BBer try to stay at around 200 lbs, past their 40's...... I bet he'd look younger, healthier, less gross and the "banging 24 year olds " would be more believable .

Being a fat bloated bloofy mess beats being a skinny little nothing to them after living like this for decades.

Imagine if kamali was off steroids what he would look like ? A complete wreck and disaster.

Bodybuilding has always had its share of stars who never "won anything", at least not an IFBB pro card, long before social media.

There were guys like Frank Sepe, who won a state title but only competed at the national level once (5th place, heavyweight, 1996 North American Championships). But, he was a pretty boy; so he made the covers of many of the magazines: MuscleMag, IronMan, Muscular Development (or at least "All Natural Muscular Development")....basically all of them, except FLEX.

And he had a Met-Rx Contract, to boot, along with another guy, Jimmy "Iron Bull" Pellechia (who also worked for MD/Twinlab).

Keep in mind, they're right along with Ronnie Coleman (who'd been a well-established IFBB pro for over 4 years at that point).

Then there was that guy from the 80s, with the super-peaked biceps, Joe Bucci. He was constantly in Muscle & Fitness. But I think he never competed beyond the state level. He ended up with an acting gig on the 80s hit TV show, "Hunter".

And who could forget Victor Richards? Of course, after people complained that he was basically being given a pro card, he went to Nigeria to win its national championship (which to my knowledge had never been and has since never been a pro qualifier). But he had a Weider contract and was constantly featured in FLEX and M&F, long before his so-called pro-qualifying win.

As far as competing onstage goes, well, many pros simply rolled their eyes at the mere mention of Richards. He had a habit of showing up in full offseason mode, standing next to pros who just competed (and, of course, were depleted).

Of course, he also have a reputation of being a sore loser. If my memory is correct, Rich Gaspari beat him for the overall title at a state-level show and Richards had a major-league temper tantrum.

But, my point earlier was that this phenomenon of non-IFBB pros getting publicity and compensation(via commercials, supplement contracts, and media coverage) started long before the web. Richards had all that before he technically got his pro card.

Actually, a number of amateur bodybuilders (similar to college football players) got lots of hype en route to turning pro. But, they didn't fare so well, once they became professionals. Dennis Newman, Paul DeMayo, Troy Zuccolotto, Greg Kovacs (heck, a significant portion of MuscleTech's roster) are just to name a few.

Bucci did find success. It was simply (compared to Schwarzenegger) short-lived. A three-year gig on "Hunter", even that corny movie you mentioned is alright. Not bad for a bodybuilder who hadn't "won anything", so to speak.

I think he did some ads for Weider products as well. It goes to show my point that folks like Bucci had more success than a number of actual IFBB pros, back in the day.......WAY before social media.

I just learned that Bucci won a WABBA "Best in the World" contest. So maybe, that whole "hadn't really won anything" doesn't quite apply to him.
