So, how is it that you and LurkerNoMore just all of a sudden both show up and post two minutes apart?

Were you stuck together?

In case one brain gives out the other one picks up the slack

Yeah to two different user names...you just proved both posts were for you..and your gimmick, hahaha. Duh!

Why would I bother to stalk anyone with the politics of a cat lady? Can't be taken seriously.

Except for the little facts that mods already confirmed I’m not a gimmick.  You vying to take over the Gimmick Cry Game from Royalty?

Seems like you couldn't finish your thought there.   ::)

I was surprised at Biden's speech.  I kept waiting for him to brag about himself and insult another person or country.  When it didn't happen, it reminded me of what it was like to have a grown up for POTUS.

I know you were being sarcastic at first.

Like you, I was not surprised at what he didn't say. I was pleased and proud that we finally have an intelligent, mature adult as POTUS. One who seeks to bring people together for a common good instead of dividing us. Someone who is man enough to ask for our help in accomplishing mutual goals which beneficial for everyone.

How about a new bill the would increase funding for mental health facilities?  If people weren’t going crazy, they wouldn’t be going on shooting rampages.  Anyone who’s ever worked in healthcare knows the mental health system is over burdened and under funded.

Exactly, when people are losing it (going crazy) make sure there is assistance available in the way of mental health facilities.

I did not watch it but both the polls and experts give him decent marks. He is trying hard and a decent guy and the majority of Americans see exactly that. But I don’t see his approval going too much above its current 55 percent or thereabouts because those who oppose him (many right here) REALLY oppose him. But compare that to Trump’s consistent 45 percent. Mostly Biden’s future will depend on the economy next few years.

By the way, Trump becomes increasingly irrelevant by the day. I don’t care for them but the Rick Scotts, and Ron DeSantis’ and Marco Rubios need to step forward.

"GOP reaction was typical and unsurprising. During Biden’s speech Lindsey Graham didn’t applaud a plea to support the right to vote. Mitch McConnell looked asleep or worse. was he ever awake ?  Ted Cruz sat looking numb as Biden proposed lowering prescription drug prices. Kevin McCarthy was motionless as Biden proposed clean water for all Americans. Senator Tim Scott of South Carolina, who delivered the GOP’s response, gave the impression of having a hard time finding fault with the president. Scott called Biden a seemingly decent man who means well, before trying to poke a few holes in Biden’s speech. “The president and his party are pulling us further and further apart,” Scott said

Ted Cruz looked like a Jackass. He either was or was pretending to be so bored that he couldn't keep his eyes open. Why did he even bother attending?

“Looked” like a jackass. If anyone gets the jackass award, it goes to him. May be serving his final Texas term.

I believe Biden's approval poles are based on the number of people and not how passionate they are in opposing him....unless of course all 45% vehemently oppose him and have vowed to hold their ground.

Like you said Biden's success will depend a great deal on the state of the economy.

Despite all that, he is fairly well liked right now. Time will tell. Approval on the virus has been there all along, now approval on economy creeping up. Immigration issues are his Achilles heel though. He needs to get that act together.

The American people, but granted that does not include those who hang in echo chambers like this one (although more and more Democrats are surfacing here).

Did not watch the speech but I will look at video and report back. I am not much for Black Lives Matter and droning on about racism if that is what that deals with.

Watched it. I am very proud of my Caucasian roots and into my ancestry and finding 1800s cemetery plots, etc. but I think Biden is simply saying that we are a nation of ongoing immigration and simply pointing out that most of our current immigration comes from Latin America, Asia etc. He is simply stating a fact and I think his heart is in the right place on welcoming immigrants, as we always have.

That said, I feel very strongly that immigration needs to be LEGAL immigration, so if there is any issue where I think Democrats need to listen to Republicans and where the two parties need to collaborate, it is on the issue of immigration. Immigration enforcement is essential, and I believe we actually need MORE ICE and border enforcement staff, not less, and better computer systems for visa overstays, for examples.

why does most of our immigration come from these non white countries?  gee could it be because they will vote democrat?

he said he wants people that look like him to be the minority in america,  why do you think his heart is in the right place on that?  it would be called "racism" if he said that about any other race,  can you name the countries where whites are the minority and it's a good place to live?

Agreed, those are deep echo chambers as well. But Trump voters fooled themselves into thinking that the were the majority because we surround ourselves with people with like attitudes. And Trump supporters were LOUD about how they felt (at least in my circle, Trump voters way out-screamed the Biden voters). All I am saying is face reality (either side). Don’t get fooled by your surroundings. I say the same thing to my “progressive” sister who lives in a progressive bubble.
