Maybe this is Vince Basile's Secret Hypertrophy Theory!

Resistance Training Volume Enhances Muscle Hypertrophy but Not Strength in Trained Men
Conclusions: Marked increases in strength and endurance can be attained by resistance-trained individuals with just three 13-min weekly sessions over an 8-wk period, and these gains are similar to that achieved with a substantially greater time commitment. Alternatively, muscle hypertrophy follows a dose-response relationship, with increasingly greater gains achieved with higher training volumes.

who can really say what works. I don't think there are any absolutes here. there are too many variables to point at one system and say this is what you should do to grow. casey viator once said none of us [bodybuilders] really know what the f%^k we're really doing.

A lot of truth to that Funk- we have to take into account individual genetics. We all know people who build muscle just by looking at weights while others stay skinny no matter what they do in the gym.

In general though, I find short intense sets make me stronger but not that much bigger- and they burn me out sooner. Higher volume sets not done to failure make me bigger and i can do them more frequently- I just don't feel as strong.

Basils hypertrophy theory (whatever the fuck it is since he never shared it) is absolute shit, about 2 weeks after his last contest he looked like a fat old man and has done so ever since so it must be about much use as a wire mesh welly
