I don't know if this guy actually broke the law, but definitely sounds like a partisan witch hunt.  From the link:

These "almost never get criminally prosecuted," according to McLaughlin, who added this case shows Vance failed to find "the goods" on Trump.

"Attorney General Robert Jackson, later a Supreme Court justice and Nuremberg prosecutor, warned against 'picking the man and then searching the law books, or putting investigators to work, to pin some offense on him,' in which case 'the real crime becomes that of being unpopular with the predominant or governing group, being attached to the wrong political views, or being personally obnoxious to or in the way of the prosecutor himself,'" McLaughlin wrote.

This is a  state crime that can get him up to 15 yrs in state prison.
Of course, he has his day in court and Trump is personally NOT on trial, yet . But his company is.

Should be interesting, and we'll wait to see what happens.

If nothing much comes of this, I will be surprised. After all the attempts so far to bring Trump down have failed, one would imagine that before going after him or anything connected to him such as his business and chief officers they'd have an ironclad case. It seems to me the more times Trump and his associates escape prosecution the less believable the charges become and the more the public will agree that it is a political "witch hunt" just as Trump and his followers claim it is.

I listened to an extended discussion about this and read the indictment.  They actually poured over millions of pages of subpoenaed records to come up with this stuff.  And it was all reported on the company's books, so it's not a situation where anyone was trying to hide anything. 

This is an obvious political hit job.  Even if everything they say is true, you make the person/company pay back taxes, penalties, and interest.  You don't put anyone in jail for this kind of thing. 

And the dumbos in the media talking about getting this old dude to "flip" make absolutely no sense.  Just like the impeachment fiascos and Michael Cohen, there is nothing for him "flip" about.  This is some fascist stuff.

I read the "boring" released copy of the actual court transcript.
That way I could see the actual charges are and the initial basis for making them.
The typical political rhetoric on this varies from the left:
* where everyone in Trump world will be burned at the stake

or on the right:
* This is nothing but a political witch hunt

Based on that, this looks quote serious and appears to be systemic and deeply rooted within Trump inc.
The prosecutor has a mountain of evidence and so far their defense doesn't have much legal depth.

The basic tax fraud is that Trump org. , used condos , cars , etc as part of the executive salary package without anyone paying taxes on it. Then , Trump org. used these same assets to either write off on personal taxable income OR inflated their value to help finance loans.

So far, this resulted in 15 individual CRIMINAL charges on the CFO of Trump Org.
As CEO Trumps himself signed off on many checks and transactions dealing with this issue and all matters in Trump Org.
It remains to be seen how culpable Trump is in this matter.

It's also true that Trump's adult children ( Ivanka, Eric and Don Jr) may have some serious legal exposure in this matter.

People defending Trump will play the " political witch hunt " card as a typical bait and switch.
However, if one simply follows the money and how it relates to existing Tax law it looks bad for Trump Org.
