I tow race cars in trailers so yes having a dhually is important. I also live at the beach and there is a lot of sand we also get hurricaines and there is often standing water on the roads. So yes I use my truck and have a need for it. It is not an office commuter. My finances are none of your concern. I will say I do not have a wife.

I used to have a home in Duck. I am in Southern Shores area now. Technically I am not in kitty hawk or Southern Shores our neighborhood doesn't pay town taxes but the address says Kitty Hawk.Being a peninsula into the sound the creekside is the only protected flat water in the OBX making it the best place for boating. It's is flat as a lake but with quick access to the sound and Ocean. I am Chartered Financial Analyst with a degree in Finance does that make you feel better? And yes I tow late model race cars in a large trailer. Before I got the dhually the trailer would push my truck around when I hit the brakes. My truck ain't shiny it is covered in actual mud. I do not use it to commute. I may not be blue collar but I know my way around my shop. I can wrench and Tig weld and I do sheet metal work.
