I’ve screwed nobody over ever and have taken the financial hit myself many times when unforeseen expenses have cropped up on jobs as I firmly stick to the fixed price and no money till completion that I put in my quotes. That comment was made in reference to overcharging as there is no set charge every job is different. The customer generally has several quotes to compare to before deciding so if I was “overcharging” it would show and would never win any jobs you fat brain dead moron

So basically you are implying that you fuck them softly. "I am free to charge whatever I want"......that means you charge even more than a fair share of profit.

How many customers have you screwed over the years? You probably laugh about it at your local pub eating bangers and mash.

All private companies are free to charge anything they want.

Only public funded projects have to be itemized.

I charge clients who are a pain in the ass more due to the burden they place on my staff.

It's how the world works.

At work we have a matrix to calculate our engineering fees based on the estimated construction cost.

We can add a multiplier to it if they are a difficult client or if they are wanting it done faster than normal.

We aren't selling hamburgers.

In a perfect world, your explanation would be valid. In this world, you have doctors,
dentists, mechanics, plumbers, air conditioning techs, you name it.....

Many of them will take the shirt off of your back if you let them.  Perfect example: How many people go for a routine dental checkup, and get told that they need they're wisdom teeth out? How about a root canal? "But I'm not in pain, doc".  "Well, you should get it done for preventative measures"... ::)

In the hospital overnight? That's 100k that they charge your insurance company. And you guys wonder why insurance premiums go up all of the time.

We poo poo the mafia for all of the shit that they have done, when there are legal rackets going on, in broad daylight.

You are changing the subject completely.

In the Architecture, engineering and construction industry, what i said is a fact.

I don't care if it hurts your feelings or not.

It's business 101.

If i want to charge a client 10 million dollars to build a foundation for a 2000 SF house, i can. It's his responsibility to know if he's getting ripped off.

Charging for fraudulent activities is different than charging to much for a product.

Just like i can sell my car for 1 million if i want.

Is anyone going to buy a 30k car for 1 million?

It's not fraud.

Sounds about right. I was addicted to exercising when I was younger. It seems like I go through phases.

I used to be big into sports cards as a kid, then again as an adult. Then I got into comic books, cars, and now it's gambling   :-\

I guess for many humans, we just try to find an enjoyable way to pass the time. Life can get boring.

You said you charge clients more if: "They are a pain in the ass".

Sorry pal, but that is open to both interpretation and exploitation. I hope you don't use that argument if you ever get taken to court.

It's not illegal in any way.

I can charge anything i want in the private sector.

As long as i provide the services they are paying for, it's not illegal.

Charging someone for something you do not fulfill is a different thing.

Gas stations charge more for beer than liquor stores do. Is this illegal?

You are correct.  We do it all the time.

Fixed price project is based on the outcome.  If we do it efficiently, it's nobody's business what our internal costs are.  We take all the risk because we owe the deliverable.

If it's T&M, or hourly rate, that's a different model with different rules.

still doesn't excuse charging 3,000 for a job that really costs 2000 (with profits included) just because you can. That's not honesty. That is not good business.

The: "I can charge whatever I want" attitude, proves that you are willing to screw people over whenever you can.

If the contractor and the customer agree on a price why shouldn't he charge the agreed price?

Because most people don't know the ins and outs of what costs these businesses really have.

If people did they're homework, Costs would go way down. Also, you shouldn't charge the consumer extra because you can't control expenses properly on your end.

The idea that a white trash loser piece of shit like you is trying to tell people how to run their businesses is laughable.

I was in my 40's when I was first exposed to golf. Guys at work were going to a driving range and I went with them. For guy that doesn't know a thing about the game I was wacking the balls further than the guys who played. I never held a golf club again  for around 10 more years.

Then around ten years later was invited to play with some guys in a real game in Upper Freehold in my 50's. Iron nat must know where I'm talking about. My first hit (drive?) I completely missed the ball and some one took a picture of me looking up in the air for my ball when someone pointed out it was still on the tee. My second attempt I hit a grounder that didn't go too far.

I thought the game took about a hour knowing nothing about the game. Girls in golf cart kept feeding us drinks. After an hour  I asked if the game was over and was shocked to know it would take many more hours. WTF? Then after that we had to hit the golf club for dinner. How can anyone be involved with this nonsense? You work a 40 hour week then tell the wife you'll be gone all of Saturday playing golf?

I just started back in January. I’ve played 5 times and gone to the range a few times. I took two lessons. I did hit a few shots that people told me would be the thing that “hooked” me. I hit a 349 yard drive on a hole and I still think about it. I shoot 108 but my buddies I golf with told me I should be picking up at double par but that feels like cheating to me.

Been screwed more than I screw. I've met a few cheapskate homeowners but people are generally ok. I'm about 100k poorer than I should be due to builders declaring bankruptcy. Stings to know you'd actually have been richer if you stayed at home, or even took a holiday that cost less than the materials you supplied.

Every few years I find out I'm still a double bogey duffer. Get a couple pars and a hole or two that gets away from me. Nicholas swing from childhood lessons.

Last few times I just took a 5, wedge, and a putter. Fuck woods. They just make the ball go wherever it wants.
