HIT is harmful train like Nubret
« on: July 18, 2021, 12:51:04 PM »
So I was a fan of Dorian I believed in low reps heavy weights and why not it was not only what built the freak supposedly but also strokes your ego. Who doesn't want to hear train less volume and go heavy every ego lifters dream. HIT just sounds more hardcore Mnetzer was the uncrowned Olympian right? Maybe not how many injuries did Dorian have how is Ronnie doing what do those guys that went heavy and low volume look like as they age? Fat powerlifters that need to cut lots of weight to compete or broken down decrepit old men??

Meanwhile Nubret has been preaching reps and moderate weight for decades. Dude does sets of 25 reps and hundreds of reps per workout. He didn't even count calories just ate what his body told him to eat and did hundreds of reps per day. Sound familiar? This allowed him not to destroy his CNS allowing him to train more often with less injures and strain. Nubret then is able to maintain competitive size and condition year round into his 60s. The volume conditions the physique you can grow while lean you don't destroy your joints. It is all about the blood pump. As Haney said train don't strain as Kali Muscle says he who does the most reps looks the best.

Yes especially enhanced should never do HIT (too dangerous) or less than 10 reps ever. Natties can go as low as 5 reps but it's not even necessary. I personally go for high reps, my limit is 300 reps, people look at me like I'm crazy in the gym. Sometimes I go as low as 5 reps but it's usually high reps for me

You’re like a mixture of joon, anabolichalo and xfactor. Keep posting though, this isn’t an insult totally.

I agree, I used to go really heavy and occasionally will test my strength but mostly my reps are 30-100 for forearms,100-150 for calves, abs 75+,bis and tris 20-50,chest 15-25 etc…

Then explain why Johnnie Jackson still looks swole at age 50. Same goes for Stan Efferding.

Plus, you assume that "go heavy" simply means low single-digit reps. Ronnie hit 200-lb dumbbells on flat bench for 10-12 reps. His injuries are cumulative, in part, from his football days.

The key to longevity is hitting it hard, when your muscles, joints, and tendons feel healthy and BACKING OFF, when they don't.

The so-called "hardcore" ones are the guys who keep pushing the gas when they need to pump the brakes. They get injured; then they get discouraged and often stop altogether.

Ronnie destroyed himself with Statins and Opiates and traing through injuries he was too spaced out to feel.

Arnold* is older now (73) than Nubret when he died (72).  Horse meat is for babies, beer is better.

Yet there are other bodybuilders who are super strong who have not done so, as I mentioned earlier. Plus, we didn't know Ronnie "destroyed himself" until years after he retired. Very few (if any) complained about his training style, when he was winning Olympias, left and right.

BTW, who the heck said Mentzer was the "uncrowned Mr. Olympia"? He got beat twice by Frank Zane. And he placed 5th behind a sub-par (by his standards) Arnold, an even smaller Chris Dickerson, and two other fellows.

There's a time to lift "heavy-@$$ weight" and there's a time to back off and let bones, tendons, and ligaments heal.

I speculate that Ronnie only did things like squatting 800 lbs very rarely.  Would be surprised if he was training like that frequently vs. just doing it once for show in a video or once in a while at most.

Ok fair enough

"In a study of men admitted to treatment for opioid use disorders, 25 percent reported prior use of anabolic steroids. Some described first learning about opioids from friends at the gym, and that they first purchased opioids from the same person who had sold them the anabolic steroids."

Latest studies reveal that training to failure shortens an athlete career. Look at the american vs soviet weightlifting training approach. The no pain no gain motto won't take you far.
