Nope. Mentzer won the 1978 Hvy wt IFBB Universe with a perfect score .
I also think he won an IFBB Grand Prix with a "perfect score" but not the Olympia.

In 1979 the IFBB Olympia had under/over 200 lb classes ( *Arnold won the over 200 and Franco the under in 1975 Pumping iron)
I was there seated close to stage in 1979 and saw it live.
Mentzer looked bloated and lacked cuts next to Zane for the overall finals.

Mentzer did score 300 in the prejudging in the Over 200 pound class and Zane scored 299 but Zane got 4 first place votes in the posedown of the top six and he won the contest by getting more points than Mentzer

Yup, I'm pretty sure you're correct on that . It does mention it on Mentzer's bio.

My initial check only mentioned the perfect 300 score at the Universe.

I honestly think, had Mentzer taken 1980 off from competing, he'd have won the 1982, 83 Olympias.
I bought one of his seminar tapes and he was still quite bitter about the Olympia judging.
Sadly, he seemed to die a bitter, lonely man.

You were 30 and 194lbs in the pic you shared. I am 43 that is an entirely different division and I am 225. I would absolutely win local and state level shows for my age group just rolling out of bed. However fuck no I have no desire to spend a weekend in a bikini on stage. I can flex for 5 minutes then go eat I dont need to flex for half an hour and starve myself for a weekend.
