Becasue I panicked looking at other people’s pics from last year and decided I was too small for heavy and needs to make light heavy not even realizing over 40 didn’t have weight classes once you guys said don’t do anything extreme I already had and there was no turning back may do one more next year at 225 and get that over 40 one back I don’t know will see how it goes. Need to work on everything but feel like I could do better now knowing a little more about posing and format
And yes would not try and do anything weird at the end next time now I know
Thanks for the honest feedback.
It's all too common to develop irrational "self doubt" when competing, especially for the 1st time.
Now, you KNOW, a lot of your "fears" , only existed in your mind.
After 45 years in/around bodybuidling, I can sum it up here:
1. 90% of contest success is : muscle size , conditioning (low body fat% ) and muscle shape .
a) Muscle size is (mostly) developed over several months/years. Anabolic drugs help , but can't replace hard training for years.
b) Conditioning is mostly diet and cardio helps. HGH and various diet drugs help, but DIETING for weeks in the main deal.
c) muscle shape is 95% genetic.
2. The last 10% of contest physique success is mostly from : applied bronzer tan and posing.
Only 1-2% comes from last minute peaking and that only applies to the pro or national level.
Most NPC bodybuilders tend to look flat and slightly worse by using "peaking regimes".
I've judged 100's of contests and 99% looked a little fuller at the night finals after they pigged out on junk .
Now you've learned some things from actual experience and did yourself proud at your first show.
Congratulations BHanks, you're now a competitive bodybuilder. Welcome to the club.

Now, go take your gf out for some quality romantic time.
