Shawn Phillips put up this old EAS promo tape, so 90's, great stuff. I remember the old EAS turtlenecks that they gave to Broncos players to hype the brand, the NFL finally stepped in around Super Bowl time. You'd see that EAS logo turtleneck on tons of postgame interviews, smart branding -

Yup, genius marketing. All he did was offer the Bronco's entire team free EAS supplements in exchange for wearing the EAS gear.

Pre-disposition.  They could have done a serum test on him like everyone else. They at this moment with a 90%+ accuracy know who will have a "covid cloud" and who isn't.  Also, with training people, he probably took on a sizeable viral load.

Not doubting you, but is there reliable links with this information?

I loved the taste of the original Met-Rx packets. Still the best tasting MRP or protein ever IMO. Is it still available? I can't find it anymore here in Sweden but I would still buy it just for the taste.

The whole Met-Rx thing was a scam on several levels.

Connelly sold some type of super protein later on but I never tried it.

Regarding Covid, I'm still the only person I've seen on these forums who got really sick due to it. Almost fucking died. It wasn't fun at all. What is "covid cloud"?

You can still buy it (the MRP) in the US, but you don't see it as often. The MetRx protein bars still sell well.

Abbott shut down EAS in 2018, I wonder if Abbott sold off the names. A company called Hi-Tech sells a Phosphagen in nearly the same packaging as the old glory days EAS -

The "original" Metrx was sold in two separate containers called Base and Plus
Apparently these two magical potions couldn't touch each other until you were ready to mix up a drink
If I recall correctly either Connelly or Phillips claimed the product contained some secret ingredient and they had cornered the market on it.   The original flavor was kind of weird.  It wasn't Vanilla but sort of in that neighborhood.  I'm not really sure how to describe it but it's was not what I would call tasty.

BTW - does anyone here remember mixing the original Phosphagen with grape juice.  I remember taking that to the gym and mixing it up right after working out

Yes, the grape juice thing was in the original instructions. I remember literally 1000's of questions on it well into the early 2000's. I remember there were guys that all had their own recipes. A bunch would microwave it, and drink it hot. There was a guy that added salt to his. There were guys that would drink the creatine with water, then chase it with 24-32oz of grape juice.

There were guys that dumped in Kool Aid.

I remember huge fights on whether you could take it with orange juice or Gatorade because of the citric acid. People got so tried of that question that they'd purposely give wrong info, and tell people it would form a poisonous acid ;D.

I remember an old article with one of the EAS guys where the whole grape juice thing came up. He mentioned that while it was considered the best juice performance wise, another big point was that grape juice masked the creatine well, and was the best tolerated as far as taste goes in their larger marketing studies.

I mean the original packets. Never tried the Base and Plus. Like I said, the packets are still the best tasting "protein" I ever had, but tastes vary.

TC Luoma, who went to T-mag after Muscle Media, said there was nothing special about Met-Rx. The only "advanced" part of it was micellar casein. This was before micellar casein became a thing in the supplement marketplace. Yeah they did claim it contained "special protein fractions" with specific metabolic effects. Connelly sold some special fraction protein after Met-Rx. Patrick Arnold did sort of vouch for these claims and he was someone who I viewed as "honest", so who knows.

Another recipe in Muscle Media contained wine, glycerol and Phosphagen creatine. It was supposedly great for photoshoots and contests when you wanted to volumize the muscles but dry out the skin  :D

Mixing creatine with hot water might have something to it. It does mix better in hot water. I still do that sometimes.

Bill lost 70 pounds in 47 days, I lost almost that much in 21 days. Bill had after effects, I'm almost at full strength 5 weeks post hospital. Well, except the psychological effects. Strangely zero breathing problems after they woke me up, felt nothing wrong with my lungs specifically. Yes I was weak, couldn't even hold up my phone the first few days much less stand up or even sit up. It's a very strange feeling waking up after a nap and your body not obeying at all.

I remember seeing Shannon Sharpe wearing the EAS turtleneck and hat in every interview.  I thought I was some kind of elite, in-the-know guy because I knew what EAS was and used their supps.
