There are a number of folks much more experienced than you are who maintain they are different.

By Arnold Schwarzenegger

"One thing many bodybuilders don’t realize is that success in the gym is all about weight training rather than weightlifting. That is, the goal is not to see how much weight you can lift, but to use resistance training to develop, shape and sculpt the various muscles of the body. When you do this kind of training you also get stronger, but that’s not the primary goal."

"A bodybuilder sculpts to have every muscle stand out and a weightlifter endeavours to have a large ego as well as large muscles. Which category do you want to fit into?"

https://www.powerdot.com/blogs/training/powerlifting-vs-bodybuilding

"Powerlifting training aims to increase maximal strength, especially in movements such as the squat, bench press, and deadlift.  Bodybuilding training is less concerned with how much weight is lifted but aims to maximize muscle hypertrophy (growth) as much as possible."

"Bodybuilders use a wider range of exercises, including free and machine weights than any other discipline because they need to develop even smaller muscles to enhance body features. It’s fair to say that bodybuilders concentrate more on muscle size and body features than on actual strength."

"Powerlifters compete in competitions to see who can lift the heaviest weights in only three exercises:

The bench press — pushing a barbell upward while lying on a bench.
The deadlift — lifting a barbell from the floor.
The squat — squatting down, with thighs parallel to the ground with a barbell on the shoulders."

https://thedietauthority.com/strength-training-vs-bodybuilding/

"Even though to the naked eye, it might seem like both are relatively the same, they are incredibly different. Also, although both require a lot of discipline, motivation, and time, bodybuilding is a whole other arena that you will have to dedicate your life to.

The main difference between bodybuilding and strength training is that one is for solely increasing the size of your muscles. The other is meant to improve your overall strength and won’t show as much bulk. With bodybuilding, it’s all about the size of your body, while strength training focuses primarily on making you stronger."

Powerlifting strongman bodybuilding it is all the same thing it's like BJJ pretending they are different than Sambo or wrestling it is all just grappling we are all just weight lifters. And again I made the point of the chisel vs the jackhammer. I am well aware I am not trying to "powerlift". I am doing slow controlled full range of motion reps. But it is good to change things up every now and then. My arm is done the tendonitis is bad I am going to focus on legs for a bit and try some squats. Shocked everyone is so against me doing some squats. I am not as fragile as the board seems to think. First everyone says I can't then they try to do everything they can to discourage me from trying. I know what I am doing. I am going to be as careful as a middle aged guy with two surgically repaired knees can be while squatting. I am slowly testing the waters so far so good

He knows EVERYTHING.

hankster is the smartest man on Earth. He could be a MENSA member but can't be bothered to take the test. Too easy.

Every single powerlifter or strongman i know would disagree with him.

BUT spanky is 220 pounds and shredded. There is no point arguing with his success.

Last i heard he can squat 225 for 8-10 reps "with ease".

He is an expert on weight training.

I think he showed 230 actually in his last video.

225x8-10 is pretty bad actually for 230 lbs bodyweight.

I don't use any powders. Again someone who is 100lbs deadlifting 1000lbs would still not change my accurate argument. Size and strength are correlated as your muscles get larger you get stronger stop overthinking the obvious.

explain richard hawthorne then? being 1\2 of your bodyweight and 5x as strong as you

They are all different.

The original Texas Power Bar weighs 44 pounds.

The Texas Squat bar weighs 55 pounds.

Some of the cheap barbells at local gyms are 40 pounds.

You never know until you weigh it.

45 pounds is the standard, but i remember weighing barbells at some gyms and they were 40-42 pounds.

Thanks for sharing your screensaver Prime.

You are welcome to it. Truth be told, my current wallpaper is one of the Windows 10 defaults which is an underwater scuba diver. BTW a screensaver has movement. I don't see either of these fellows moving. Maybe, you've had too much to drink or you are subject to hallucinations. ;)

On my previous PC, I put up a photo of Lucy, my Rat Terrier. I have yet to get around to personalizing silly details like wallpapers on this new PC. Instead I downloaded Windows 11.

It doesn't matter how strong he is compared to me. What matters is if he was 20lbs heavier he would be stronger than he is now. The easiest way to increase your strength is to increase your bodyweight.

Former but you still lift now yes and to what end then? To maintain a decent physique? That would make you a bodybuilder then its all just different sides to the same coin.

This website suggests 8-9 reps of 315 for a 405 max:

https://www.maxcalculator.com/squat.html

Seems generous to me.
I did many deep sets of 315 in succesion....same workout and my max was 405 and I did a triple on two occasins with 370.

I may have been able to do more with the 405 cuz it was a few years earlier than the sets with the 315.

It doesn't matter how strong he is compared to me. What matters is if he was 20lbs heavier he would be stronger than he is now. The easiest way to increase your strength is to increase your bodyweight.

A friend of mine is a 'featherweight'. He is incredibly strong specially in terms of grip strength. I've seen him wrench off rusted on bolts on a vehicle he's working on like it was hand tightened. Not sure what his pressing or lifting strength is like though.
