For me it's odd.  I went to bench a few months ago and it was like "nope"....and that's when I went in an got the MRI and found out.
I did only close grip shit, but could get away with Viking Presses on the landmine.  So I've been doing that to try to get through this 12 week program that called for OH presses.
Then, this week, DB presses were on the menu, and I did them fine (probably shouldn't - I can always feel "something").
It's so random - I can do stuff in the gym, but if I reach for something at the wrong angle.......OUCH.
Yup, I did incline-bench the other day, just about no-pain. Regular flat-bench, lots of pain still.
And youre right, normal everyday stuff can be brutal. Lifting milk back to the fridge, arms up to wash hair (or head) in shower, etc.
I do BNP's pretty much pain-free as well.
